I hate you for beating me to this amp. I really do... :gethim:

Steve (Seriously though - Congrats, seems like it is a great amp for you)

Ah Don't feel bad Steve. Rumor has is that the particular amp in question has diode clipping, Was shipped with shitty tubes, is noisy and doesn't sound anything like the amp at NAMM.

Day #2 with the Cameron.......it just gets better and better as I'm learning how the tone controls interact with each other....The mids on these amps is killer...nice and where they should be.....doesn't get foggy or harsh....everything good through the whole sweep of the knob...never offensive and could be totally happy with everything at noon if need be. Amp is not noisy at all just the usual "hiss" at super high gain settings and actually quieter than alot of amps I have or had. Sittin here bustin out Doug Aldrich Whitesnake riffs (just the tone...not the ability...hehe) Just big ballsy.woody etc,etc tone. I don't experience any "pop" when switching channels but I"m using a prostage XO7 through an RJM RG16 amp router that changes all my effects patches and amp channel switching on the fly. Think I'll go dial a touch of mid out and brush up on my Ratt Riffs.....yup....nails that stuff too...

i was confused by that as my Marshall Mod can get close to those tones.

The amp you got from me pretty much nails the same tones my CCV-100 gets....Could damn near be considered a proto type of the amp..

I think the Aldrich I have sounded better for what I like to play than the CCM I heard set up right next to it. Granted they were being played through different speakers, etc. This is why I really want to hear the CCV!!
From what mark had mentioned the CCM is similar to the Aldrich, but a little darker sounding. Did you guys find that to be the case? Also, what speakers were you playing them through. I love mine through both a Bogner 4x12 w/ H-30's and and Avatar 4x12 with the Mojo 12M GB clones.

The Aldrich I had was too bright for my taste but still a great tone. I've got 3 cabinets here all 4x12's...Mesa Stiletto vintage 30's, Marshall 1960AHW handwired Heritage G12H30's, 1972 Marshall slant with greenbacks in it..The Cameron sounds great through all of them but I'm liking the mids of the Mesa cab a little better I think??

Come to think of it Dan!!...I couldn't sell this if I wanted to....I paid dearly for it....(Traded a newish Diezel Herbert for it straight up) but....money well spent and zero regrets......

That would be me!!!! Tell Greg howdy for me!! Greg was also the best Soundman I've ever had behind the boards!!

My Aldrich is quite Bright for sure, would be interested in a way to darken it a little. I run it with treble and presence on 2, with the bass boost on full, sounds huge. When I plug my Jube in it sounds almost tinny because of the sound that the Cameron pumps out. Would be cool for it to have a bright/dark switch, although speakers may be the answer to that, must experiment with more than V30's...

theres a high pass filter and a low pass filter

find out where the high pass filter is on the marshall. then use an extended EQ and find out what frequency ISS the "brightness"

and using aikenamps.com you can calculate the cap value for cutting off those extreme extra highs.

run it in parallel, or run it through a switch. im sure theres more to that circuit part but thats how you would solve the problem

or you could try different speakers. lol

Definitely try a different speaker then the V30's. I find that my H30 re-issues darken up the tone of my amps a lot. Im not talking about the heritages h30's as they are brighter then the 70th anni h30 re-issues.

V30's are way too bright with that amp IMO. Green Backs are my favorite with the Aldrich mods. H30's can be good too, or, a mix of V30's with H30's or 75's. But not all V30's.

I have tried all different cabs with my Aldrich and ocean mods. The best one I have found so far is the uber cab.

I now own the amp in question and when I first fired it up it felt and sounded kinda sluggish. I'm not one to jump to conclusions and have been around and owned too many ampsand pretty much know or in the ballpark of knowing what an amps problem might be. I'm thinkin it's either the output tubes or it's just a matter of biasing the amp up proper. I'm not pointing any fingers and really don't care why or how but...Cracked the amp open, pulled the tubes, set up my bias rite in the amp, installed the tubes into the bias rite, fired it up,let it warm up for 10-20 minutes, flipped the stanby switch to play and WHOA!!!!!!! Bias reading shot up 118Mv's and the bias trim pot was cranked to the max...still no big deal but will have a very negative affect on an amps feel and tone. So...I idled it down to around 35Mv's to where it should be or thereabouts and today...I'm grinnin from ear to ear and happier than a pig in shit in the rain. Alot of you know me (from the forums anyways) and I've owned and played a ton of amps and however, I do not consider myself an authority but....This Cameron is truly one of if not the best sounding feeling amp I've played to date. There is alot of versatlity in this amp and alot of tone shaping capabilty...It sounds like the youtube video's if you want it to. There are alot of great amps out there and this is truly one of them and in my personal top 3. I flip alot of amps as most of you know but.....this one is not going anywhere except maybe down to Mark for some tweaks that he most graciuosly offered to do for free....He called me...I didn't call him...in fact...Where the hell did ya get my number Mark????? lol!!!!

WOW,
I never had the amp serviced, and that may explain my issue with it's sound? that is the way it shipped! 118ma??? Well, either way I have a New Diezel Herbert and loving it! Maybe the tone was there, but an amp spiked to 118ma will have some issues with tone! Kurt, have fun with the CCV and thank you for the offer you made me for it, I'm glad it's what you hoped it would be!
