Thanks man. Hear lots of good things about the Iconic. I trust your judgment for sure. Can't say I've heard of the Sabot. Shoot me a clip if you get time.

Sadly not much has changed for me :dunno: I did finally get a Dual Rec tho this past year

What speakers are you using in that Peavey Vypyr?
I've been trying to play mine through my 412's since I've resituated speakers and it sounds way too woofy on most of the high gain stuff. Even with the bass on 0 I can't dial it out. All the cleaner style amp models sound fine though. Maybe my 412's are just too bassey for it and I need to resituate one of my open back 212's for it.

You did that sexy head conversion right? I have not ran it into my 4x12 in a long time. I barely play it TBH. It is a great late night headphone solution though. Mine has the stock Peavey 'custom' speaker but I like it fine and the combo is open back of course. The fireplace acoustics add a touch of spank.

Current:

Magnatone Super Fifty-Nine M80
Orange Rockerverb 50 MKIII
Bad Cat Lynx
Bad Cat Hot Cat
Fryette PS-100
How do you like the Lynx? I ordered one on a whim when the Ola video dropped, it came damaged, and I just returned it because they (Guitar Center) didn’t have stock for an exchange. Never pursued it again. Haven’t even really seen many videos for it either🤘

Yeah, I converted mine to a head. I don't play mine overly often either. Seeing your pic I tried it in my brightest 412 that has a quad Mojotone Greyhounds earlier today. Even that is too bassey on the 6505 and Recto models. It's okay on the Diezel and Krankenstein and manageable on the XXX and JSX. The rest of the low gain models sound fine. I'm thinking a closed back 412 has too much natural low end for it and an open back 212 (or 410) would be a better fit.

I like it. If you listen to Field of Themes on my soundcloud, I'm using the Lynx for that.

I'm planning on using it a lot more in the coming months.

I'd say there's honestly a decent amount of overlap between the 101b, Sabot and Savage. The 101b covers lower to mid gain sounds better than the rest, while the Sabot is the most brutal sounding amp I've ever heard. The Savage can get very close to the Sabot, but also has 3 other channels that can get similarly close sounds to the 101b. The main difference between them all is:

1. The 101b is the first amp I've ever played where it just FELT awesome. It doesn't record as well as the other two for the same sounds, but it is insanely fun to play because it's super responsive to my playing style. I don't know what it is with this specific 101b either. I've owned 2 others and never really cared for them.

2. The Sabot is just insanity if I'm going for heavy sounds. It's not the clearest of the 3 but it's got this aggression that is just unmatched by anything else I've played. The pick attack and chunk of it is crazy, but it's very much a one-trick-pony.

3. The Savage can arguably do everything the other two can, it just doesn't have the feel of the 101b (and it's a bit more modern sounding, though still on the British side IMO) or quite the aggression of the Sabot. However, it has MIDI and fits in perfectly with my pedalboard and it has way more sounds in it than the others. If I could only keep one amp, this would be the one, even though the other two I find more fun to play, this one can cover everything and cover it well.

The Iconic is awesome. The voicing of the original 5150 with the versatility of the EVH amps. I actually use this amp as a pedal platform quite often because its clean channel is great.

The Redbeard is more in the SLO camp, it's less aggressive than the Iconic, but with a boost it'll rip your face off. It reminds me more of the SLO crunch channel though as it's not super gainy. The clean channel on it is FANTASTIC and might be the best clean in a channel switching amp I've ever heard. It's so good that I haven't played my Deluxe Reverb since I got it... And the clean almost seems like it was an afterthought because it's literally just one knob.

The Deluxe Reverb is a Deluxe Reverb. The 101b's clean channel is supposed to be the same preamp, but the magic of these amps is in the power amp and pushing it to the edge of breakup. The 101b sounds good on that channel, but its 100w EL-34 power section isn't the same as the 30w 6V6s in the Fender. I bought this amp as my blues/pedal platform amp. I love it, but I also don't play it as much and have thought about selling it a few times. Still kinda on the fence.

The Heart Attack I got because it was on sale, stupidly cheap, and I figured if it sounded even remotely close to a Recto, I'd be happy, since I like Rectos but they're not a sound I care to have that much money tied up on. I'm happy to say that, it sounds REALLY close to a Recto and it's honestly pretty awesome for $50. Very, very impressed.

You had a Baron too at one point right? Or was that Eric or Kyle?

Someone else mentioned that recently on SSO. I don't remember ever having a Baron, but I could be totally wrong lol. I remember feeling major regret when I didn't get the Snot Watt for super cheap on Black Friday.

Maybe it's because of the 8 string guitars you have, but I'd have thought you would have more modern high gain amps in your collection.
All of those amps have been with me since they were new as early as middle school, except the 2204. Which was my fathers and has been passed around to different family members since, but it's mine! :ROFLMAO: I tend to keep most of them, but in timeline order my main amps outside of those listed have been a JCM900 and 2000 that were both stolen along with the cabs, a Sunn 300T that I was kind of pressured into selling cheap to a friend, XXX and JSX which my daughter now uses, a NATAS that I stupidly got rid of, a REVV Generator v1 for a minute that lost it's appeal pretty fast, but now have had the Thrasher for the last decade+ which is awesome and does everything I want.

It takes pretty much any tubes and combinations of tubes and can even pull two and run it at half power. I was never really a tone chaser, and am content with what it offers since it is very tight without being sterile and has so many features and tone shaping options and I can just run into different cabs if I want a more specific thing I'm going for. I do want a Fireball 100 and a Rockerverb 100, though to mix it up, tbh. Also, have been thinking of a synergy module setup. I wouldn't mind a few of your amps either:ROFLMAO:

What bass amps do you have?
Nothing fancy, a GK 115 300W combo, a Trace Elliot ss head that I want a new stack for, and a few lower power combos that I run with my synths more than bass. I actually prefer solid state for bass 🤷‍♀️

Man, I thought I was going crazy watching all the youtube videos of the mark i Revv Generator, i didn't like them at all - then i played it in person and REALLY didn't like it. Which sucks, because on paper it should tick alot of the boxes.

Yeah, unfortunately I thought it was going to be awesome with downtuning and ergs. Tight and responsive, but sounded like white noise from a government issued white noise machine. The smiles didn't last long, but have been super happy with the thrasher. I've read/heard the MKIII is so much better, but it's from the same people who told me how godlike the first one was :ROFLMAO:

Yeah everyone says the mark III is a big improvement but honestly even if its 400% better thats not worth the price tag to me

Thanks. It’s been made perfecter with the addition of an OG SLO with Haynes and depth mods

Great collection - i'm really jealous of the sampson era DC30

An early 90s DC30 with a Telecaster is literally plug and play to one of the most legendary tones ever

It’s a great amp. This one doesn’t have a loop. The resistors are like aaa batteries. They were so stupidly overbuilt in these early amps. I run it through that Bogner 4x12 which has very early 80’s G1265’s a lot. Doubling that with the Marshall is awesome. Marshall adds those mids and overtones. Matchless is punch and clarity. It’ll blow your eardrums out though 😂

I love it. One of the best clean tones ever

This thread is like therapy. I really don't have a condition, I'm actually kinda responsible! 😍

Kind of...
