What Amps do you Regret Selling?

I don't know where to begin.. the dreaded C word invaded my life a few years back. I had to sell just about everything I owned to keep up with medical bills... everything listed here is gone. currently had a modded JCA 50 watt and a Gower on order. just now picking up the pieces from that ordeal. One thing I did learn going through all this shit, you can't take any of it with you. I am happy to be alive and have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful forum..

I know someone is going to rail me for getting rid of the holy grail of ALL amps... the BLADES! in all actuality, that was a pretty fucking bad ass amp... despite all of his ramblings, he was a pretty cool dude if you ever spoke to him.

Just wanted to say I can only think of the mindset you have to be in and what perspective you have to have to know everything you’ve worked hard for becomes a 2nd rated asset. All of the amps in the world pale in comparison to the greatness of overcoming that battle. Congrats dude glad you’re still with us. You can always keep a lookout for the gear and piece it back together in time.

68 Marshall Super lead--I was a senior in High school in 1981 and what did I know but I knew EVH had one. Traded a car stereo for it and then traded back for the stereo. Mid 70's 50 watt Marshall modded by a Soldano employee and used by Carlos from Quiet Riot. 70s Marshall 50 watt combo. Three super cool Marshalls.

I regret selling all of my Mark 2C+ amps. If I had them today, I sell them for 3x what I paid and be laughing all the way to the bank. :ROFLMAO:
You don’t regret your beast Mesa racked power amps or any of your modded preamps?

Any of your Cameron modded Marshall’s or your CCV?

Outside of all the money jokes, I really don't miss any of those amps. My little JCA20 absolutely rips and does everything I need. It's pure Cameron DNA, then slap that Master Effects PMEQ, it turns into a better 2C+. I'd love to find time and build up another JCA20 and tinker. I wonder how an Aldrich mod would take to it.

I really wish we could do an amp fest and run the 3++ green stripe which is pentode already against my 3++ coliseum blue stripe that’s pentode converted (full power and half power mode) and hear what the true tonal differences are between the stripes
Would be cool

Jet City?
Bunch on Reverb right now for around $500.
Worth it? I need a 20 watt head that can do Mark tones.
I'm already running an Empress ParaEQ.
The old Jet City 20 amps are built great including over built transformers. That said, for me to like them, they need to be modded. I added Cameron style Jose mods.

There's two versions I'm seeing - with and without Soldano's name on the back.

Grab one and go search the forum for Dave’s thread on how to mod one. He was transparent at the time (modded further?) about what was done to it years ago.

Everyone is all about The origin 20 mods but Dave was modding lunchboxes before it was cool.

Grab one.
Anything jump out?

At one point I had both a green stripe (no ++ mod though) and the same coli you have now (had it for 9 years before beyond black). I compared them both when they were just stock mark iii’s before I sent it to Mike B for the ++ mod

The blue stripe coli sounded way bigger and more robust/muscular, which is expected from being a coli. I could also set the bass much higher without it flubbing out. The green stripe had though a certain firmness/hard sound that was cool (maybe from pentode vs the blue being triode at the time) and maybe just a little more modern leaning

I have left now for mark amps just a iic+ hrg and iic+ krg coli with a iib powersection from when it was a iib coli originally. It sounds much bigger than any amp I’ve heard other than just a Beta, Blueface and the Hiwatt I used to have

Sold everything besides the VH4. I miss the Herbert and JMP-1+Strategy 500 a bit sometimes but the VH4 is so vicious when i want it to be.

Does that VH4 have a black face? Or is it just camera trickery?

It’s a 1998 silver face owned by smashing pumpkins Billy Corgan. One of the first silver faces ever made and blue face spec inside.
