What electric guitar picks are you using, what string gauge?

Dunlop Tortex T3 shape, .73mm. Perfect hybrid of standard and sharp for me.

Jazz III Max Grip... I never use anything else. I've been wanting to try those Petrucci Jazz IIIs but can never find them in stores. Can't be bothered to order down picks online and always seem to forget to grab someone when I'm making a larger online purchase.

I am trying the Richie Kotzen route of no pick and damn its a bitch. How the hell does he do it?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that Jeff Beck began this technique in the electric guitar realm.

I'm curious what Vinnie uses by way of plectrum.

So Progbusters, not the .50mm black in the picture that you posted?

If so, are you a Jazz player or you just like the almost instant response of such a thick guitar pick?

I use the 1.14 mm for 80-90's metal style. I like the pointed tip and the yeah the instant response. I use thinner picks but I will use a wider pick shape.

Black Dunlop Jazz III XL's.I used the smaller Jazz III's for many years, but I found that I get a better tone and more dynamics with the XL's.

Jazz III XL for me as well. Just feels better than the the regular Jazz III's.

I'd say Red Bear, but I've lost both of mine. So, some jazz variant, or whatever is lying around.

I played the little Jazz III picks for a while. Thought i'd found the ultimate pick, but standard sized picks are the way forward. You get the proper balance for chords & leads

I'm using 'The Wedge' tortex picks nowadays. They're grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

Hey guys and gals, thanks for the great info.

Having thought about all of your great responses, I think that this guy maybe the perfect balance for what I am after. I'm aso using D'Addario XL110 (10-46) strings.

Red Bear Big Jazzer Heavy. Went through lots of picks and hopefully have settled on these.

Planet Waves Black Ice picks

I haven't been this excited over picks in a long time, they're absolutely perfect for my playing.

I used to use Dunlop Tortexs (the orange ones), but found they were too wide. Then I moved on to Dunlop Jazz IIIs (the red ones), and found that I lacked the attack I wanted (too thick, and grip was awkward). Then I found these, and it's the absolutely best of both worlds.

I use the .55 Lights

I used to use the green tortex and when I want to bust out tome metal I'll grab one. I switched to the orange tortex about a year ago and can now use pretty much any medium pick. I especially like the free ones I take from GC when I go in to tryout guitars.

All you Dunlop Tortex (non-sharp) users need to check out the EB Everlast picks. Same exact shape/feel in your fingers but a more open/dynamic attack. And a faster release on the strings.

Dava Jazz Grip, Delrin. And if I need heavier, I go with the Jazz Grip Poly:

dava-picks-review.jpg

The Dava Jazz Grip made from Delrin are actually really really good picks. I played one next to my razors and they were really close. Same feel and release but without the clear top end that acrylic adds (which I prefer)

Anyone using the dunlop nylons need to give the gravity razors and the dava delrin's a try. Nylons are where I started, the gravity and dava's are leaps and bounds better in feel, control, and lifespan.

Cool Juratex thin and medium (0.6 and 1.00). Grabbed some Dava Grip Tip shape and Im liking them. How do you tell what material they are? i.e. poly gel, delrin, etc
