What od pedals work best with the BMAN and SL2 mods?

Ya know guys, I tried like hell to get a few pedals to kick it into the SL2 and EG3/4 and nothing sounded as good as the modules alone. All I did was kick in my compressor and EQ in the loop and it killed for leads!

The BB sounds killer into the Bassman however and I was close to ordering an AC Booster but why! I was also close to getting a Tube Screamer type pedal, but why...the modules kill by themselves - no help required. I thikn the BB is the best for the Bassman but I will look at other pedals like the new Blue Note or the Holy Fire.

Now, I am getting an SL or modded Plexi module. What that one, I am going to want a boost of some sort to take it into higher gain territory. Maybe the BB will do that as well! Maybe I need two BBs, one dialed in for the Bassman and one for a Plexi, Ha! Seems silly spending the extra money but would save always bending over at gigs, LOL.

3 MIle, the BB works well on the Fender modules and maybe the SL but not so well on higher gain modules for a mid push. It can sound harsh! However, there is a guy demoing the BB on youtube with his Mesa Boogie and I am surprised at how good it sounds.

I hate to be a broken record here Rich....but....i really think it's your speakers that are making things sound harsh. I didn't like how the sugar's break up...they had this graininess to them....

Eric

Agreed.

Those speakers are long gone!

What you got now?

I just recieved the Naked O.D from Dereck at Tone Freak Effects. Its phenominal!! Its very organic also without painting your tone- I used the Keeley 5 star Sd-1 (A metal heads dream) prior....Both are exstacy really. right now, I'll have the Naked od.....Hope you find yours brother!! These 2 are what I really enjoy. :cheers2:

The more I think about it, I might just skip the whole pedal thing. It is more of a pain that its worth in my opinion. I bought a rack unit and a midi board to avoid having to pedal dance. In addition, the audience could care less if I use the chorus in my Rocktron or an analog pedal up front but I know the Rocktron makes my life easier! Same thing with OD boxes. When i get the E2, I'll have so many more options. I do like the BB into the Bassman so I can find places for that to fit and maybe the OCD would sound better, not sure I care right now. I was trying to find a good pedal to boost a Plexi into high gain because I like that tone but it would be a pain live at a gig! Our songs do a lot of switching back between clean/chorus to heavy and having to hit a midi channel and a pedal to get the boosted plexi tone - too much!

You know, I am thinking more this way also. The Tourmaster sounds so good I find myself not switching that stuff on, or shutting the loop off, more frequently. I've mentioned on this board many times recently that guitar players (me included) tend to think about adding things and complexifying when we have a problem when maybe the solution is simplification and subtraction. I am trying to remind myself of this more lately. I don't ever have a problem when I just plug into the amp.

I was playing last night, and I will admit I enjoy the sounds of the pedals, but what a dance it is, even on that huge Furman! Try as I might the cables get all snarled.

 :scared:    :poke: :student: :loco: :dunno: :rawk:  :salute: \:D/

Personally, I would never buy anything from Tone Freaks.....but hey, that is me.
(what's up with the negative vibe dude)...

Rich...Its dealer/direct only so you won't be buying anything from tone freaks. The Naked OD is exactly what you want

Sorry, that was un called for! Accept my apology. I have nothing against Tone Freaks. It was directed at someone else but this isn't the place to bring that up. :(

The Naked OD does sound good but I am realizing the Plexi I am having modified will have enough gain for Zakk tones all the way down to classic plexi with a turn of the gain so I may not need any pedal!

Now picture that!! Sounds sweet. I have some hot amps also but I think it is just made to change the harmonic structure of the amp- Its like an inhancer without masking the amps original tone- its not a high gain pedal. Mind you, I've only had it since Monday, but I noticed its greatness right away. Another great pedal is the Throbak Overdrive boost Jon sent me...This one has a build in master and clipping also...I can't choose a favorite but these 2 are really really nice.
Go for what you know though Bro!! No offense taken Rich, Freedom of speech and opinion is the most important : )
Peace!!
