I used either a Peterson Strobo-Stomp or the tuner on my Kemper depending on which rig I am using.
So are you guys saying the needle is too active on the Polytune 3 making the tuning progress more tedious and frustrating ?I had the exact same experience. I love my Polytune 3 Mini (Noir) and that buffer is indeed killer, it's the TC Electronic Bonafide Buffer. Everything just sounds right when that pedal is first in my chain and set to buffer. By way of comparison, when the TU-3 is inline, the sound is noticeably "tizzy" sounding, like I dialed in some artificial high end frequencies with an EQ pedal. I also felt it took too long to get in tune and the needle was jumpy.
It is... but it's not nearly as bad as the Planet Waves Tru Strobe. I don't know if all Strobe tuners are like that, tho. I guess not. But it is more jumpy than the TU-3 for sure. The TU-3, like I said in my post, I found very slightly better to tune live on the fly. But it's the buffer that I hated. I'd like to get the Waza at some point, though. Where you can turn the buffer off.So are you guys saying the needle is too active on the Polytune 3 making the tuning progress more tedious and frustrating ?
Thanks Rex. I guess once it's tuned then it's all good... Maybe I'll have to find one used to buy and try out.It is... but it's not nearly as bad as the Planet Waves Tru Strobe. But the Polytune is not terrible by any means. It's pretty usable even if it's slightly more accurate than the Boss.
That is the downside that ALL tuners get the more accurate they are.
Not at all. I find that to be true of the Boss TU3 not the Polytune. But the Boss is a classic "go to" tuner for a reason, I guess I am a minority opinion. So are you guys saying the needle is too active on the Polytune 3 making the tuning progress more tedious and frustrating ?
I love mine but had to put duct tape on the bottom so I could use velcro.I really dig the Peterson Strobo-Stomp. Rugged, metal housing. Large, bright display. Perfect for the board.
And I was knocked out the first time I used it to set intonation on my guitars. Wow.
Nice. You’re going to love it. With the Sonic research you don’t give up stability for accuracy. Don’t know how they figured it all it but it’s awesome. It takes a few minutes to learn it but once you set it up it’s super easy.
I didn't realise they were having supply issues. I just looked them up locally and I can't find any in stock here in Aus either. Interesting. I love mine.Anyone know what has happened to Sonic Research? Their tuners have not been available in Europe for a long time AFAIK.
YepHey guys.. the Sonic Research ST-300 only has the circular strobe mode?
I'm use this and the mini! It Last's with abuse, doesn't die on the road and no tone or noise issues. Plus for an old blind Mofo I can see it.I really dig the Peterson Strobo-Stomp. Rugged, metal housing. Large, bright display. Perfect for the board.

I use the TU3 and have for years. I have a tuner-out option on my board so there's no buffer issue. Reliable. Easy. Precise. It is... but it's not nearly as bad as the Planet Waves Tru Strobe.
