Peterson Strobostomp
Petersons are fast and accurate. I dont have the pedal, but I have the bench top and the clip on. Both are great.Interesting to see lots of Peterson tuners users. I always thought them to be the type of tuner that's more means to be on a Tech's bench due to their accuracy for intonation & setups.
The Strobo Stomp is a great tuner and if not for the on/off lag I'd have it on both of my boards as it has a good buffer as well.Interesting to see lots of Peterson tuners users. I've looked up videos and noticed plenty of people complain about that. Any ideas if there Is a purpose to it design wise ?The Strobo Stomp is a great tuner and if not for the on/off lag I'd have it on both of my boards as it has a good buffer as well.
I'm sure experts on here will have more knowledge than me but I think it's to prevent the audible click of the pedal from coming through with the soft switch. Again, someone feel free to correct or elaborate more.I've looked up videos and noticed plenty of people complain about that. Any ideas if there Is a purpose to it design wise ?
I can see if the pedal is true bypass then maybe it's a mechanism to avoid the switch pop that at times happens with true bypass pedals. However you did mention the pedal is buffered.I'm sure experts on here will have more knowledge than me but I think it's to prevent the audible click of the pedal from coming through with the soft switch. Everyone is saying that nearly all boss pedals have the best buffers…Question.. for those who use the Boss TU3 and have noticed a tone suck, do you use it with an external buffer of any sort?
Do you mean the TU-3 or the TU-3W? The "tone suck" happens because the buffer is not high-headroom enough, and it actually clips.Question.. for those who use the Boss TU3 and have noticed a tone suck, do you use it with an external buffer of any sort?
What does this look like?I could clearly see every guitar that I ran through it produced DI's that looked hard-clipped and/or brickwalled like active EMG's with the preamp
Top and bottom of the wave is squared off flat. What does this look like?
That is what I have noticed with Boss buffers. I am usually fine with the sound, but they have low headroom before clipping. I have never measured it, but I could hear it, especially in effects loops.Do you mean the TU-3 or the TU-3W? I don't have the TU-3 anymore. I sold it (good riddance), but I did try recording DI's hoping I could benefit from the buffer, and I could clearly see every guitar that I ran through it produced DI's that looked hard-clipped and/or brickwalled like active EMG's with the preamp. Anything from overwound PAF levels and up. Like, not even super high output pickups only.
Worst. Fucking. Buffer. Ever.
If you run another buffer in front of it, you're just going to raise the noise levels slightly. The clipping is still going to happen regardless because adding another buffer in front does nothing for the headroom issue.
You guys should chime in the buffer threadThat is what I have noticed with Boss buffers. I am usually fine with the sound, but they have low headroom before clipping. I have never measured it, but I could hear it, especially in effects loops.
