What was you first "Real" amp?

1979 Marshall 2203 that blew fuses until the local old crotchety TV repair man replaced a bad filter cap. I paid $400 for it around 1985/86 and I got a fuzzy carpet PA style 2x12 cab with Celestion V30s ( the first series) with it. My bass player had a Boss SD1 that he traded my DOD Distortion box for and that was my whole rig, along with a red G&L Rampage. That setup kicked ass.

I was gigging with a Behringer modeler half stack saving up for this. It was like entering another dimension lol

Technically I guess it was a Peavey classic 50 2x12 combo. I didn’t keep it long though. I ended up getting rid of it and getting a Marshall JCM 900 6 months later and I used that for years.

I had a stage II Deuce, didn't keep it long as I could not seem to dial out the high end and get a sound I liked from it. Knowing what i do about them now, definitely would like to give one another shot with some different cabs/speaker options.

Peavey Rockmaster preamp/Classic 60 power amp. Had to borrow/rent 4x12 cabinets for the first year until I could afford one. That's what we did in my day. This is the equivalent of the previous generation's "walking 16 miles to school everyday" spiel.

Miles?!!! Don't you mean 26km through 1.5m of snow in moose infested maple forests uphill both ways?
