If a man wanted to spend around $1800-2500 on a used superstrat, what's a good one that'll hold its value so in case I decide 6 months later it was a terrible idea to spend that money, I can trade or sell it for what I paid for it?

I've been eyeing Govan signature models, I checked out one of the MIJ Charvels with a mahogany back and walnut top with wenge necks. I'd love a Luxxtone, but not sure I can justify the money on that, or an Anderson.

I don't have to have a Floyd, I'm fine with a Gotoh 510 and locking tuners, I just want something high end that hopefully plays and feels better than any other guitar I've ever owned. I spent $2k on a Warrior several months ago but it's a string thru body, so no wiggle stick for occasional fun.

If you can find a great Charvel, those are amazing. To be honest though, you could get a custom made Chubtone at that price point. My Chubtone is rarely ever out of tune and sounds amazing. It is a great Superstrat.

that chubtone silver surfer in the classifieds is sweet. It's all up to you bro. With your budget you can get a monster for sure. Getting rid of it in this economy....I don't know bro.....

Schecter C1 SLS Elite FR.
I have the E1 Explorer body version without a Floyd and it's a ridiculously great guitar.
This would take you everywhere you want to go. Truly badass machine for the price.
Stainless steel frets as a bonus. 7 piece neck through, real maple top (not a veneer), Grover 18:1 tuners, ebony fretboard, super comfortable neck. Ready to roll out of the box.

If you're shopping used I'd look for USA Charvel, or maybe a Suhr. I've seen a few of their HSS strat models sell used for around $2500.

Not used, and a little below your price point, but have a look at the Schecter Reaper Elite. FR model comes with a sustainiac. https://www.schecterguitars.com/Reaper-6-FR-S-Elite?quantity=1&custitem_color_master_list=316

The main functional difference between it and the other schecter posted earlier is the neck joint. The reapers have the best neck joint I've felt, in my limited experience. It goes deep like the other schecter, but then is carved away in the back so that the heel of your hand isn't impeded by the back of the guitar. I can close my eyes, slide my hand up the fretboard until it stops, and when I open my eyes my fingers go past the 24th fret. Very comfy, and I kinda don't want to play a guitar without something similar anymore. The neck itself is also very thin and comfy, in my opinion. My experience is with the cheaper reaper 6, not the elite, but it looks like the elite models keep these high points. Same neck shape, and the carved out pocket.

The beautiful thing about the SLS is there is no neck joint. For me it feels like one continuous thing. I literally can't even feel it or notice it.

Do a build. Get a killer Musikraft neck with stainless steel frets. Send a body out for paintwork and the collect hardware and electronics while you wait. You'll save money and have a killer guitar.

If it were me...I'd just go all out and order a Luxxtone. Get the best available option, set and forget,

If you keep an eye out, an anderson pops up once in a while around 2500, sometimes lower. I have seen a few on SF Craigslist over the past few months in that range. One had epic specs but had some pretty serious dings and scratches on the body but nothing that would interfere with tone or playability.

Luxxtone come up sometimes around $2500, actually, I’ve seen quite a few in that range recently. Especially if you are not looking for a maple top. Luxxtone, like Anderson, are great guitars. I grabbed a killer anderson around a year ago. Got a great deal on it. I’m usually not a fan of blue guitars, but I liked this one. Also has a nice uniform dark fretboard, which seems harder and harder to find, unless you grab an ebony fretboard, which I also like. This guitar plays so nice, and sounds great.

I scored a killer ibanez j custom at a great price recently as well. The j custom models are ripping guitars. There is a cool Mayones on SF Craigslist for a lot less than I’ve seen one in a long time. There are great deals out there, you just have to find them.

Use the forum, if you find a guitar in another city, see if there is a forum member who could get it and send it to you as most Craigslist sellers won’t ship.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned chubtone. I played one and it was great. You can get those at killer prices.

Oh yeah, the neck-through looks beautiful. The set-neck on my reaper-6 is pretty much the same, but if I hunt around I can feel a little bit of evidence of the seam, around where the fretboard joins to the neck. The reaper elite appears to be neck-through, so I'd imagine it's just that little bit smoother like the SLS. My comment however was addressing the back of the lower horn, which I realize now I never specified.

My Reaper-6, notice the deep bevel:

How my hand sits in it is on the left, on the right I lift my hand so you can see that it was actually in the carve-out:

It's not super deep into it, but it's enough to make a difference, and to cause guitars without that to feel constraining to me when I'm up in that area code.
