Wow Len. Those last two posts kinda reminded me of "Being John Malcovic"

I don't know how I ended up with two posts there. I tried to just edit the one.

I never saw the movie. What's the connection?

Bizzare. There is a tunnel in an office. If you go through it you can become John Malcovic for a few moments. Some how, John Malcovic goes through the tunnel and becomes himself and everyone looks like him ... repitition I think being the connection, at least in the weird inner workings of my mind. :scared:

Sorry for pointless derailment, carry on with the cool suggestions. I'm making a list!

Hey! I'm new here, but just had to chime in. Gov't Mule - Live With a Little Help From Our Friends has got to be one of my favorites. Lots of great musicians and tons of killer tone.

Absolutely!!!! I forgot about that one. Love Marc Ford on Cortez the Killer. The Deep End live thing is pretty dang great too!

I know- This thread is gonna cost some money! Already sayin' I gotta get that SRV...

My vote: Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out 2009 re-master by the Rolling Stones!

Les Pauls, SGs, 335s, all through loud over-driven Ampegs! The band is great- Just the right amount of sloppy tightness. I think this album is what made them "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World!"

The remastered version sounds great, and it has sets by a young B. B. King and Tina Turner. Great sets! BB just has that sweet snap and snarl. A Tourmaster will get that, but I am not sure about that "fill-Madsion-Square-Garden-Humungulous-Ampeg-Amp-Driven-To-The-Ends-Of-The-Earth-Ampeg" sound.

You should all check out the 2009 re-master of this- Great guitar sounds!

So, what's your vote?

Rock on dudes!

Ive got to say that I have many Egnater amps and cabs so know I am a huge Egnater fan.
However, my new 65 amps "Stone Pony" is designed after those exact Ampeg amps/sound with 7591 power tubes and master voltage(instead of master volume). It is delicious and a blast to play. Just the right amount of "Sloppy tightness" Nothing like it.

if Egnater had that design available I would have added it to the herd.

The "sloppy tightness" I was referring to was really more tha band's playing style- Charlie Watts is great on the album, and it is funny to listen to the band lock in on him when they go off time- but the amps do have a great "greasy" sort of sound that I don't think the Tourmaster quite gets.

The Tourmaster on 1/2 power with Scumback M55's do get that sound Len...The speakers are dirtier than the ones in your combo, hence the added geasyness...You still have to push the amp some, but the "tones" come on at much lower volumes than using a cleaner sounding speaker...

you are correct..... with the stone pony can get the sound that kinda starts to break up only to a point ( different than a deluxe or bassman, vox) all the while retaining that clean tone... with that, very dynamic as far as touch sensitivity goes. it really does it nice with single coil vintage pickups. It does other tones very well also.

There is no one greatest, but here are a few more that should be on everybody's list:

Lou Reed, Rock and Roll Animal, with smokin' twin guitar leads from Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper's band).

Yngvie Malmsteen, Live in Leningrad.

I have a few that I love listening to
UFO - Strangers in The Night
Kiss - Alive
Slade - Alive (these guys taught Kiss all they know)
Queen - Live Killers
Michael Schenker Group - One Night at Budokan
Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous
Whitesnake - Live in the heart of the City
Judas Priest - unleashed in the East
