My guinea pig farm ain’t going near my amps lol . My kid has 11 . But I take of them really
There aren't many things in this life that give as much joy as shaking the feedbag around a few guinea pigs but dang 11 pigs to take care of is probably cutting into your guitar time, lol

I’m a fucking farmer . I buy bails of hay. Like 6 at a time .

I put blankets on my amps. I like them to run hot. I make them all hot, then they perform consistently.
🤷🏻‍♂️
I've found mine are much more consistent based on voltage swings vs temp. My temps can vary 10 deg F and I don't hear a difference. My wall voltage has a swing between 116-125V, and it's easily heard and felt when it swings. Heat is the enemy for circuit components IME. :dunno:

I get it.
I figure that in venue situations, under lights is what they are designed for.

I like to know how things will be in performance situations. So I can get used to that. Understanding this, i began placing blankets over my tube amps, especially in the colder months...I began to get more predictable performance results.

I guess that makes sense man, if they are always going to be in a stressed situation. Kinda like being in a roadcase that doesn't get air. Heat will affect circuit component life though. I've heard mixed opinions on heat for tubes, but generally I've erred on trying to keep them cooler for extended life.

@VonBonfire
This shit is right up your alley. We are putting blankets on amps while wearing boots. I feel like we are missing one more element to really transcend what we previously thought possible about tone.

Reminds me of when i started my vegan diet. They taste horrible, but I feel like i am really doing the world a favor

I understand.

Never had a tube amp go on me. Not once.
Not a tube, not a component...not from heat or overuse. Had plenty damaged from dumbasses dropping my shit.
I am not saying it affects the sound...but it definitely affects feel. IMO. From my experience.
We all know an amp runs a certain way live, so I just try to get the amp there while practicing or recording....so I just did it that way.
Something I started doing during winter shed practices in northern Michigan....and in cold venues. Worked.

To each their own. Just saw your fan post ...and thought it funny how I did the opposite.

Also, I don't do it during hot and humid weather...just when chilly. Mostly to have an even and consistent heat....for predictable feel.

yeah man, I can understand as well. I've fought with consistency for years. For my situation, I found it was voltage related, but I'm sure it's specific for everyone. My room is temp controlled and humidity controlled, so I have a lot of variables accounted for, that you can't playing out.

I know I am being a dick here, but, lmao. This blanket thing is the best thing since the water soaked V30s. Im fucking dying
Play a show in the cold, at gig volume after practicing in your warm living room...then tell me how you feel.

🤔
