What gear is Brad Gillis using for this? It sounds a lot like the tone on Stryper - Soldiers Under Command which I also forgot to mention in my own list.
From all I've read, Mesa MK IIB. Two of them in stereo.

Yup. I met him after a Night Ranger show and that’s what he told me. I think he also had a pre amp in his guitar that may have contributed.

Please tell me someone mentioned Operation: Mindcrime in this thread.

That was his Wireless. It was routed into the guitar body!
Nice. I don’t recall the brand, but there was a wireless back then that also boosted the signal. I know Angus used them, and I believe Gilmour also did. Perhaps it was that one.

Its not 80's...
Yeah it is. 1988. And it does have good tone.

Edit…someone already pointed it out. I think you may be thinking of Empire. It came out in 1990. Guitar tone on that album was even better, imho. That whole album sounds fantastic. I remember reading somewhere around the time it came out that a lot of sound engineers for rock bands would use it to eq their systems before concerts.

That was the old Schaffer-Vega systems. In fact that was Angus Youngs go to for years to get his tone. Solo Dallas reversed engineered all that stuff and has it's own line of products based off the circuit. Angus uses them and the founder of the company can imitate Young to a tee.

Btw/ no clue if that is what Brad used.

I'm a big Dokken fan, But for tone I had to pick Vito Bratta

Icon Anyone?

Freakin Icon!! I’m WAY late to the party on them. Just discovered them last year when my Apple Music pulled them up. What an underrated band. Love them. Not sure at all what the guitarist is using, but my ears say Boogie Mark III, or some other Boogie Mark series.
