Diezel is good but it's not as great as people say. It's significantly psychological. You'll find that the amp sounds great, but not a whole lot better. For the money you spend on a diezel, you're better off sticking to something that's been around like mesa. There's a reason these company's have stuck around for so long. If diezel was really as good as they say, then everybody would be forking over the money. Don't be a gullible musician. Try different things, but definitely don't spend the money on a diezel. It's completely unnecessary.
I'll give you a +1 in the concept that sonic excellence is largely in part to psychological preferences and imprinting - this is 100% true. But what you have to realize here, is that Diezel make by far some of the most recognizable tone-tuned amps in the entire industry. They are unique, distinctive, and recognizable. Mesa to Peavey to VHT to Marshall to Carvin to etc. are all in "one" area of "sound" - granted, there is some distinction amongst certain parameters, but the distinctions are all within a set scope. Diezel, OTOH, much like Bogner, Cornford, Fuchs, etc. is a boutique amp with a boutique "individual" sound unto itself and outside of the scope of all other comparable criteria of distinction as per other boutique amps. So this is the -1 which you knew was coming, and another BIG -1 for the fact this is your first and only post.
Good luck,
V.
Being a little bit of an amp whore myself, I do have two herberts and a VH4. hahahaha Every amp sounds unique. I'm just an idiot and had the money to spend. I actually do some work from time to time with some producers at warner so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to tone. Again, if the tone was as good as you say, they would be bigger than they are. There's only so much sonic range human's can recognize and feel, but so much more they think they can. The tones not that recognizable. Not like a saldano is. I'd equate my herbert to a modded JSX with slightly more highs. I'd equate the VH4 to a saldano hot rod (I think) with more compression that you can't get rid of. And those are less than half the price.
But yes I do have a bone to pick with diezel. After not being too terribly impressed with the sound, I was won over by Terry. Furthermore the whole diezel story was intriguing and I fell in love with this idea of an honest warm hearted company that just believed in tone and giving people what they always wanted. Even though the tone wasn't as great as $5000 would have you believe, it was pretty damn good. I had every intention preaching the gospel of diezel myself.
Well after what they did to Terry, I will have no part. They're just another corporation. I'm sure this will be removed. Anything that's said against big brother will be removed to keep the propaganda pure. Almost reminds of a different germany about 65 years ago.
Given that, there's not much point in posting here anyway. I guess the battles over. No one cares, accept me.
