THAT! rad tonality gets lifted to another level when Weiland paints over it.
They couldn’t go very far without him.
Much like VH etc.
 
STP definitely one of my favorite bands. Can't believe the 90's was like 30 years ago wow.

Never saw them. They did Bethelwoods in 2012 and I regret not going.

The new singer sounds great. Not the same but still good.

Their album Perdida is a great listen, start to finish. Rainy & overcast perfect weather for it. “ New” vocalist is good

Local H brought the serious heat as they just got signed on big label and opening for STP.
That was the 1st time someone modified the guitar to have the low notes, actual bass notes on a switch..go look into it, it was rad for the times.

Normally opening acts don’t go that hard.
(They can get fired).
But they were no match for Shirley Temple’s Pussy.
STP was dropping hit song hammer’s after hammer’s….dried the opening smp right up.

The raddest part of the show was before the encore STP did a few acoustic covers and originals
They brought Weiland out on an Arabian couch..
And they performed “Dancing Days”.
It was beyond dope AF.

The true magic of STP was Weiland.
Weiland was such an on point vocalist,
he sings certain key notes in the chord progressions, creating those super dope melodies anchored deep in the keys of the songs
Even those dope AF Jazz chord’s in
Interstate Lovesong.
He outlines the chords..like melodic cliff notes
to the songs..
Go listen and you’ll hear what I mean.
That guy was a AWESOME lead singer in his prime.

The only downside to them for me is the tempo’s
are sorta’, too sorta..slowish strummmy..at times
.I don’t know,
I get why Slash did not like playing their material.
I dig Sour Girl!..

I thought I read that a lot of his tone was the two AC30s flanking the Demeter rig. IOW, you might need all of that wall he has going. I thought it was a blend but maybe that’s just live?

It’s a unique and killer tone. Fits the music perfectly.

That sounds right for his live setup. Not surr what was used for Core besides the Demeter. Either way, that’s his sound and belongs to him. It’s awesome.

Fuxk I miss STP. I saw them once around 2008-09 in a smallish venue in Rochester, NY and it was such an experience.

Wonder what happened to Weiland between the Leno show and the Rolling Rock festival. It looks like two different people. Surely drugs.
