Will we see another Boogie module?

I don't really like Vox cleans much :S and I'm not into high gain much (the vh4 and the renegade will cover that up for me!)

but maybe a T/D - COD combo will be GREAT! the heavier I go is zz top/bonamassa most of the time.

then get an sl man. You'll get enough good clean tones from the renegade.

COC is not a true Boogie. It is a sweet module but still not in the Petrucci range.

Dude...all Boogie tones aren't Petrucci tones. I disagree 100% with you here. The COD has more of a Mark I flavor...which is more Santanaish tone...not Petrucci tone. So...it's more vintage Boogie tones...not modern boogie tones.

Actually, then you do agree with me. Hehe

Dude, I never mentioned modifying the COD. Not sure where you got that idea. Jeez...

Dude, you need to stop.

Petrucci tones aren't necessarily "true Boogie." Santana/MkI = "true Boogie"

Threads like this have been done to death. Without a board redesign, there is no way to pull more gain out of the COD without it oscillating.

Where have you been the last year and a half?

How is a Boogie Mark I not a Boogie tone? The COD sounds similar to a Mark I and a Dumble to me. Santana uses a Mark I....I don't see the connection how we agree. Petrucci's tones are more Mark IV and Rectifier tones. Yeah..that's not the only good Boogie tone out there. You referenced that the COD doesn't sound like Petrucci...which I agree with...but you say the COD doesn't sound Boogie...which I think it does. So we do disagree.

T/D and COD will be real nice for you. Since I know you love Mayer... with a Strat with good pickups and a COD you can get dangerously close to his tone on Where the Light Is. You wil shit yourself. Good love is on the way!

Aeroic, what is the difference between the dual twin and the dual deluxe mods .Which one is better suited for doing Country /southern rock and clean tones (don't laugh) a la Purple rain

Honestly I think Pete's take on the Mark series is pretty stellar.

If you want country chicken picken...you totally need the DLX man. The Twin is more of a "eric johnson" super high headroom vibe. Doesn't really get to much break up at all. The DLX has a cool "natural compression" vibe that lends itself REALLY well to country. Definitely a KILLER module to get! :) I think that'd be the one you'd want for sure!

cool thanks .
So its sound like the T/D will be great for the 80.s ballad and the deluxe side will do more the southern Sweet Home/ rascall flatts
stuff..

and the SLX will pretty much do everthing else .
Now I just need E2

You could run it with a Bugera if you wanted to ..

joking aside .ANY amp with an Fx loop will be able to use the E2 to my understanding

I pretty much prefer the dual Twin or the dual DLX. I've had all three (DLX, Twin, and T/D)...and the DLX or Twin are the ones to get IMHO.

yep..any amp that has a good series effects loop will work just fine...series being the key. a efx loop like on a 5150 which is a shitty parallel / series effects loop won't work well. That (next to the shiva) takes the cake for f-in up a a efx loop! ;)

I've been running this exact rig, Strat, TD, COD and it has been great. It's run through a 2x12 and the TD really opened up when I converted the cab to open back. The COD has a really large range of tones on its own. I do find that this combo gives me tons of flexibility and with a couple of pedals that I can really hit a wide range. I've got a Fulltone Fat boost that I will sometimes use to hit the front end (especailly of the COD) and version 3 OCD that gives me a bit of that Marshall tone which I run though Channel one of the TD. (Just easier than swapping out to the SL on the run.) Best of luck with your new purchases.
