dear Peter, i think that zoiberg21 idea about a vh4 classic, with vintage sounds is a really beautiful idea (channel 1 very similar to an hiwatt, channel 2 overdriven vintage sound (Pearl jam for example, but with more gain), channel 3 a la gilmour sound, compressed and obscure and channel 4 with less gain than the one now in commerce for sounds like a perfect circle and similar, always compressed but much refined and harmonic, not brutal). i think that an other useful thing is a solo boost, that boost volume and make the sound bigger.
in any case, i think that you are one of the best amp builder ever.

Does that mean Peter should also install a rectifier tube and make that switchable to alternate between it and a solid-state? Definitely not. Also he shouldn't start to use VTLs for switching or apply for 10^7 patents . . .

btw: what the Diezel world really needs is a nice (vintage) 4x12" SLANT rearloaded with G12H or better: custom configurations available thru a webshop.

No, it means I'm voicing a suggestion. That's what this thread is for, isn't it? Jeezz...loosen up man.

There are personal things that I would like to hear in my own Diezel amps, but the amp, stock, has been doing well, and I just get around the things I would like to hear personally by trying to just be a better player.
Shit, they are already better now then anything else out there.
I believe that some of these ideas might be better done as a personal mod then a standard change to the entire line.
While it may seem that there are many Diezel players, remember that we are a very small community of guitar players compared to the rest of the guitar-playing world at large.
All of the other amp players of different companies get by with lesser made amps then we already do.
If you want a specific thing done to your Diezel, get it done through Peter or Uwe personally and individualize your own amp.
If you have the talent for doing stuff to your amp, such as Olaf has, then with help from the company, do it yourself.
Those of us that have no talent for modding such wonderful gear, should have no trouble getting by with the great amps we have as they are.

I would like the Einstein to have a full sized version, tolex options, and the first channel modes to be foot-switchable. I'd also like the effects loop to be footswitchable and maybe have a mute.

We are just brainstorming here-I wouldn't want Peter to get the wrong idea; I love the amp and love the thought that went into its design; he built a wonderful amp.

BTW, when Peter is in California this year a Salwender, will he still work on the amps if we bring them to him? Will he do the infamous Einstein mod? :)

Peter,

I'm sure you've got the message by now - but could I add my vote to making Herbies -/+ on channel 2 midi switchable. It is such a good feature and expands Herberts already sizable tonal palette.

Oh, and could we have a kit or instructions on how to retro fit it :D

I hope Duesie can draw a circuit of the mod.
I´m not allowed to :D

Understand ;)

Please Please Duesie, draw a circuit of the mod :D

STEREO HERBERT! I can't afford 2 of them. The Diezel amp line is amazing as it is, but i'd love to see a small practice amp to play at home, with similar voicing to the Herbert, cause when my herbert is at the studio I have nothing to play at home. The einstein combo is nice, but something even smaller would be perfect. The schmidt might just fall into this category :irresistible:

I will draw a schem for Herbert next week. I have a gig on saturday and won't be able to install the relais before that.

Excellent, thank you

i think that can be very useful a tube pedal like the mesa v-twin, with two channels based both on vh4 channel 3, that can be used both in direct input of the amp or in the send & return.

This is a bit difficult to be achieved.
The sound of a VH4 or a Herbert is a correlation of many factors, like power amp design, specific transformers etc.
I've plugged a Soldano X99 once to the return of VH4 and guess what, the Soldano sounded very similar to a Diezel because it got the Diezel vibe from the power amp section.
So imagine that if Peter builds a preamp pedal and someone sticks it on the loop of a Recto, the chances are that it will sound more like a Mesa than a Diezel.
My opinion is that he should focus a bit on rack gear now!
He will surely kick some serious ass!
