Wizard hell razor… another full demo on YouTube

Sounds like Rick should just add a sweep knob and that would do it. The MC & MTL I had didn’t have sweep knobs, so for me the Hell Razor killed them in every way other than maybe mellower rock tones. I don’t like the Hiwatt neutral/hollow type midrange either, but all the Wizard’s I had were like that
The sweep knob on the MTL mk II has the ability to pretty much rid the amp of that. Which is why my MTL is my favorite wizard I’ve owned lol.

It’s about there already with the tariffs…

Have you gotten updated pricing post tariffs? I don’t know if Rick’s increased prices but have been curious what the hit at the border is? Let me know if you’ve seen please

Interesting, as I've usually preferred 6L6s over EL34s in Wizards
Also wizards are one of the few amps I prefer lower wattage to higher. Because of the low mid deal, more of them seem to come with higher wattage at least in my limited experience.

I could see that. I used to have a mid 90's 50w 6L6 (5881 actually) MC that supposedly came directly from Metallica. Great amp. Mistakenly sold it (that process took forever as no one wanted these circa the year 2000) to get a 100w EL34 MC from Rick in 2001. It wasn't as good (terrible ghost notes, microphonic squealing and low end flubbing/high end smearing when turned up) Sold that and gave it one last shot and bought a used 1996 6L6 (5881 again IIRC) 100w MC that I liked best of all. That one had a much more extended top end sparkle than the others.

Id imagine it would be subject to taxation unless the code is changed. You bought an amp overseas and then imported it, how did you dodge getting hit with insane taxes? What was the difference between what was used prior and now? Maybe you should start a thread outlining what to do to properly describe guitar amplifier purchases?

I just looked up the amplifier category on the harmonized tariff schedule and at that time it said no import duty on guitar amplifiers. I’ll repost the picture if I can find it.

Not sure about tariffs, but I didn’t have to pay import on my hr in 2023, and my friend got one in 2025 for the same price (besides 40$ extra shipping cost)

I haven’t had to pay import on amps, guitars though they definitely try to fuck you, and in some cases like mine hold your guitar hostage for a month.

I dont remember which, but ive had to pay import for amps that weren't wizard- I think canada post bakes the cost into the shipping

Thats good to know. Sorry for just assuming they were subject to tariffs

No worries, here’s the code I used that resulted in no import duty

I prefer the 6L6 wizards, as well.

I have never tried a hellrazor, but Brams clips sound good.

If Nash ever sells his 6L6 MTL MkII that’s the one I’d want to grab

….and then do everything in my power to resist modding it to be the most badass wizard imaginable.

Every time I get ready to sell it…I end up plugging in to make a clip…and then I forget about selling it

Key will be to sell it to someone without doing a clip 😅😅😅

Thanks for the clip. Nice job with it. Does not seem to have the BIG open Wizard sound. Both the og Metal and MC1 have the big Marshally thing. These newer amps don’t have that.
