Yep... I played the Jose... Yep

@JerEvil

Thanks for the video, sounds really good! Looking forward to your full demo.

I’m curious about how Dave runs his amps. I know he’s said his master is really good, but the Powerstation is a bit better.

Was the PS running as a W/D or was the amp fully routed through the PS?

I got the impression it was the latter: PS on the KHE and all amps going through the PS with the delay in the PS loop. And that the only sound coming was out of the 4x12.

Anybody have any idea what that rack delay unit was? Hard to tell from the video, sounded great.

Me and Frankhouser went back later, hung with Dave, drank some fantastic tequila, the Dave walked Jason through the amp (with no delay) and after that Jason and I both left floored. It was hilarious to watch @killertone start ripping out Ratt riffs and he was just as chuffed with the amp as I was.

Maybe you guys should tell Dave to get me and Jason on the rounds to demo this fucker proper when it goes out?
I imagine there were other tricks that increase the perception of width besides the delay. It can add the perception of gain, fullness and depth.

Time will tell.

Yeah pretty sure that was the setup and not in stereo. It was a Roland SDE-3000

Does the Friedman Jose have real modern series effects loop? I think if it was an accurate copy the only loops Jose had were the insert types that only work decent with rack type effects and is not switchable DB input like modern loops do.
I’m sure it’s the Friedman loop. Dave’s not going to put a subpar loop in his amp.

Think I heard Dave say in some NAMM video that there will be a "stock" setting for old school Plexi tones...wonder how that compares to his Plex? Considering offloading my current Plexi clone for this if it can.

feels like Friedman will be mopping the floor with this amp when it comes to modded this or that - smart move and well executed in terms of getting the Aredondo fam on board.

Sounds fantastic. Doesn’t hurt that you’re a great player too man. Well done. Looking forward to hearing more
Hey thanks man! Hope I am able to get one to demo. I THINK it could happen… we shall see.

Not limited number made, limited builds in batches. In other words, not going to be an assembly line kind of thing.
Correct. Just not a full production line thing. It seems the agreement was that Dave would be the one handling these guys and not the broader team. Like you’ll be getting a proper Dave build with each one.

Not sure on this. Someone did post elsewhere that there is a loop with adjustable level.

Do you remember what settings you had while playing? Sat switching on or off?
Nah but in the vid I do go through all the switches quickly and play in each mode. I called them out as well.

Yeah there’s a Plexi mode toggle switch. Here’s a list of all the front panel controls

First two knobs are Presence controls with a toggle to switch between the two, then you have Post Master Vol, Bass, Mid, Treb, Pre Master Volume, Volume 1, Volume 2 with Gain Style, Plexi mode and Fat toggle switches, then Gain.

we're not even through January, and I'm thinking what I can sell. I don't know why I bother with New Years resolutions.
Shit brother, me too! I want this, a Driftwood Darkest Nightmare and a RedSeven Hybrid 100 this year.

Yep. Brilliant move and what’s nice is, and I could tell both in the Tone Talk and my chat with Dave, he really is honored to be able to have this partnership. This really is a special deal. A lot of guys have made a good living off of using Jose’s work to make a name for themselves. The fact that Dave is doing this to legit make an amp that also pays back the family of the guy that made us all go broke searching for a fucking sound is super cool.

That’s why in the vid, as silly as it sounded I said “on behalf of the guitar playing community, thanks for doing this” and I meant it.

And even coming in at the price point he is is pretty awesome. He could have easily rolled at $4999+ and people would have still said “take my money”. The price point he mentioned on TT and that he seems to be sticking with is solid AND in line with what Marshall is running with for those limp dicked modded things they dropped.

Totally agree here. A classy touch by Dave to acknowledge one of the great innovators of juicy hard rock tones, Mr José Arredondo. In contrast, Marshall’s new Modified Super Lead which advertises a pre tone stack MV, and increased distortion with diodes, and faux switch labels, will be capitalizing on Arredondo's contributions without a mention of his name.
