This is a heads-up for anyone else considering whether or not to do business with Wilder Amplification.

Earlier this year I bought a Diezel Herbert. Diezel doesn't include a midi footswitch for operating the amps 3 channels and other functions. So in my searching the internet, I came across Jon's thread here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... ?t=1122769.

Seeing what he posted on TGP made me very happy as it meant I could use my amp to its full potential and not have to spend an additional $500 on a Diezel Columbus midi footswitch.

I contacted Wilder Amplification on Feb-23rd-2013 and all was set once I sent him $240 on Feb-28th-2013 (he sent me an invoice via PayPal). He quoted me a 4-5 week build time. Here we are, literally, at day 100 of the build time and I still don't have the Evolution Series footswitch for my Herbert.

He stopped communicating with me via e-mail as of April-26th. Nor will he return phone calls/voice mail to his place of business.

Also, when he was communicating he expressed he was building 6 or 7 of these for other people who had ordered. If "you" are one of those people who ordered, have you received your product? Would you please PM me and let me know? I'm curious if others are in the same boat as I.

I can't really express how much I was looking forward to receiving this footswitch. Jon's youtube demo of the product really sold me on what he is/was doing. It's unfortunate he's proven himself to be unreliable/untrustworthy.

What a crock! Why anyone buys $@!# from him is beyond me.

Customer Service? What's that? The Service left a long time ago and sellers are only interested in the customer's $, not providing a service.
 
Never heard of the dude or his Company, but the first link on google links to his facebook page and this message was posted on March 21:

"Just wanted to put the announcement out that we've gotten a bit backlogged and we have a baby on the way. He's due anytime between now and April 13th. As a result, we may be a little slow responding to messages and emails. We apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured we're doing all that we can to process each and every order we receive.

Wilder used to post quite a bit on the Marshall forum up until a few years back (or so) and then disappeared. He positioned himself as one of the forum "experts" over there in the technical debates lol. :lol: :LOL:

He actually did seem quite knowledgable and I remember him modding a Marshall DSL (I think) for Lynch that was used on some documentary DVD that Lynch was making.

However he did come across as a tool sometimes and didn't have enough of a track record that I would send $$$ to him no way, no matter how good his Marshall mods were.

:D The quote you grabbed was in relation to JerEvil's issue with another builder from GA.; not Wilder. I was offering Jer some support. He's been waiting FOREVER for his amp to arrive.

I saw some of the stuff on the Marshall forum. Not unusual that a builder is anti-social or a bit pretentious. While he may be come off as a tool, I didn't see anything negative as far as him not shipping / fulfilling orders. Hopefully he'll get it out soon. That would suck to get dicked... again.
 
A friend of Steve39Stripes sent John Wilder a 100 Marshall to be mod'd nearly 2 years ago, and he still hasn't sent the amplifier back. Steve said that John contacted his friend about 6 months ago to tell him his amp was on the way back, but apparently John never shipped it. I think it was speculated that John may have loaned it out to George Lynch.

Lovely. Maybe I donated $240 to his Me Myself & I Fund? Guess we'll find out.... uuhhh later.

I guess I should really start asking questions BEFORE I buy something from a small-time builder.

Perhaps I'll learn the lesson one of the days. I guess I'll just let it ride awhile longer and see if he comes through.

For the record, I ordered a Herbert footswitch from him. I did not send an amp his way. While $240 (the cost of the Herbert footswitch) isn't a lot of dough in the grand scheme of things, it's the principal of the matter. Integrity seems to be a lost quality these days.
 
Years ago I almost got tangled up with that dude when he was going to do a "Curt Mitchell" model of Curt's 100w langner mod. I could never nail down any kind of time or turn around commitment from him so I bailed.

Heck, if Dave can build one and say it costs $240, I'd almost be ahead had I just bought a Columbus direct from Sir Diezel! :doh:

No matter, I'm going to sell the Diezel. I'm not going to try and have another footswitch built. Why these things don't come with a footswitch doesn't make a whole lot of sense to begin with. Same thing with Engl. Must be something with the German's? :lol: :LOL: (not an insult, I'm largely of German descent w/ some Irish thrown in for good measure).
 
....ah,you do know Pete offers a footswitch for the Herbie and the Hagen
Switches every function but the 2nd channel +- .
Give Brad King a shout and see if he's getting some in.
 
I understood it to be for MkII production only as far as the Herbert goes.
