Proof the Earth is round

I can understand that but it is just a clock. I mean it keeps time by bouncing atoms or whatever that clearly bounce slower when they’re moving faster and it is compelling if those equations actually match the ones Einstein came up with but I just have a hard time with the idea that time will obviously appear to pass as usual but my body will age MUCH slower.
Your body will only appear to age slower to an observer. To you time will pass normally.

That the Earth is round (spheroidal) isn't really science. it just is. It's not a theory that we need to prove with observable fact although you can treat it like that I guess. It's settled. Even I could take a photo of the curve of the earth as a private individual using a weather balloon and a Gopro.
The bible says circle, not ball. So explain why the author would say circle and not ball, sphere, etc?

Science draws conclusions based on the data available and is therefore subject to change. Science is logic based, and the gospel is incompatible with secular logic so tell me how you are squaring those two things.
God created all these things knowing we would be curious so he gave us challenges to figure out.

This debate purposefully excludes photographic evidence because it can be manipulated. ...Why don't you put a weather balloon up? But don't use a go pro because they have fisheye lenses.
You're being ridiculous. Even if the gopro has a wide angled lens (the field of view can be adjusted on them by the way to a certain degree). You can watch the whole thing in real time. At the beginning things look normal at a normal altitude. As you get higher the curve becomes more obvious. Are you saying the gopro gradually becomes more of a fisheye lens the higher it gets. FFS.

That assessment is way off base. It's not one dude pops out a math formula and everyone goes along with it. Any math is scrutinized from every angle by not an insignificant amount of people. Experiments are designed, tested, retested over and over. If found repeatable then it becomes accepted until a better or more accurate explanation comes along.

And if everyone just accepts the first theory that works then why are there dozens of competing theories in quantum physics that are attempting to explain the same thing. Several of them do fit the picture with none being full accepted. It's not philosophical, it's that they haven't been scrutinized to the point of becoming the one that continues to hold up.
It was a generalized criticism. You should know that I appreciate the practice of science. I think it's cool to want to learn more about how the world works, try to figure it out and use to human advantage. What I'm getting at is a mindset that scientists fall into — or rather that they are indoctrinated into — because of how academia and the "System" works. Here is a great example describing these problems:

What does challenging look like to you then?

You mean I haven't been indoctrinated.
Challenging means to offer dissenting information and not just dissenting opinions.

If any single piece of information ever came up that actually challenged the earth being round, tons of scientists drop what they were doing to study it. Science isn’t afraid of being proved wrong. The entire basis of scientific study is to try and prove a theory wrong until they realize they can’t do it…then it becomes a truth

You guys are the ones that say the atmosphere creates mirages of everything you think you can see around the spinning ball. But I was saying get a camera with a good lens, not a fisheye.

I watch her every day. When things are bullshit she'll say so. However we are talking about things that really are scientific theories here. Not science fact i.e. completely settled science. That the world is a spheroidal object isn't even science anymore. You can see it with your own eyes if you are lucky enough to have the means.

You can make a gopro have a relatively non fisheyed field of view - you just go into the settings and you can use different lenses on them as well... but fine use a normal camera if you want. I don't want to spoil your fun. You should get my point about things changing as the video progresses though. To say even that is some conspiracy boggles my mind.

I'm going to say it can't be manipulated because there is so much photographic evidence from so many sources including private individuals with no agenda that we are way beyond manipulation for some nefarious purpose.

A sphere is circular. They weren't modern people. It's not a science textbook. Sometimes I'll even call it a circle when I'm being casual and not having my every word analysed. They didn't know everything we know now. As I said, God didn't write - he inspired ancient people to write it. They aren't going to talk about the internal combustion engine, electronics, space and the current world. You live in a country they didn't even think existed - it wasn't even in their consciousness.

But a circle is not a sphere and a circle is never called a sphere either by anyone over about 10 years old. Maybe I need to look in the bible for use of language that describes a sphere or ball somewhere in scripture. I don't think there is any but I'll check it out when I get some time.

First, I don't think that's true. Where is the photographic evidence from private individuals? Everything is NASA or government linked or highly regulated. And I didn't say it was nefarious or even intentional. You don't understand how human group psychology works. People can believe vehemently and support a falsehood without nefarious intent.

I’m not saying it isn’t true I’m just saying I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. It does open up a lot of possibilities as far as traveling very long distances through space or even time travel.

Then again, science fiction is only fiction until it isn’t.

Another way to look at it is how we see things that are far away. For example if we look at a star that is 100 light years away, we are seeing it how it was 100 years ago.
It took the light we are seeing, 100 years to reach us, it has been traveling for 100 years, but we as the observers are seeing it as it was being created.

It’s all relative
