it's who you know, your connections and access to gear, education,...I’ve renamed it TikTokTek.
...but having more can help a lot.
same as it ever was. interesting to see who had the fast track to pro musician.Absolutely , and when you have family or financial support that helps immensely!
I like them all .To be fair, I think guitarists like Tim Henson, Ichika Nito and Yvette Young deserve the hype, these are Asian guitarists who started super young and likely had their fingers beaten to start playing professionally trained classical pieces before they even hit puberty....
These guitarists are frowned on by fans of the most technical guitarists of the 80's but yet these modern kid guitarists blow those hair metal guitar gods away in every inch.
I'm excited to see what guitarists play like 3 generations down the road... if I even live that long.
Edit:
Yes, I'm the man who's wife randomly bought him the Ibanez Tim Henson pink guitar
There's something that a lot of technically extraordinary musicians lack, and that's the main thing that makes good music -- SOUL.These guitarists are frowned on by fans of the most technical guitarists of the 80's but yet these modern kid guitarists blow those hair metal guitar gods away in every inch.
Do they have soul and swing?
If not: fuck em.
On this forum it's a bunch of EVH nut swingers.
I don't even care for most of Polyphia, especially their newer music. I can't help but laugh though when I see people posting "do they have soul and swing?". Go listen to them and figure it out. The problem with guitarists and "metal heads" is that they're all biased gate keepers who think whatever they listen to is the only good music in existence. On this forum it's a bunch of EVH nut swingers. If you listen to Polyphia's Renaissance album and don't hear "soul" or "groove" then the issue is your pre existing bias, it isn't the new music being released.

This may be turned into something else and I may be called a troll but I think Guitarism is in a better place now than or was in the 80's. I feel like the 80's was full of guitarists trying to copy each other's method and a competition of speed. Today's guitarists are made up of originality and being set apart, in my opinion.I don't even care for most of Polyphia, especially their newer music.
