Meh. Depends on the model Recto; the C I had was similar in some ways, and could be set to sound pretty close...but not exact. The EQ is pretty different, where the SLO is all upper mids and Recto lower mids. While the preamp is a dead nuts copy, changing the EQ and power section made the...

Well, it's pretty clear that the preamp from the 5150 is straight from an SLO. That's been well known for 30 yrs. When Mike Soldano described Ed's visit to him, when he purchased 2 SLOs from him, well you can come to your own conclusion when you see what followed with Peavey and the design of...

Iron Maiden: Somewhere in Time - 1986

I remember hearing Sea of Madness on a trip to Chicago, in early 86...it was on an AM station. Couldn't wait to grab the album when it came out.:rock:

Which one of YOU done pissed off your wife to make her do this ?!?? 🫢

Right??? I mean, almost as retarded as some fool whose ears are shot, actually thinking that ANY JCM 900 series sounds better than a JCM 800, or JMP!!! I mean, that's just plain stupidity. Or, maybe they're deaf from all the years playing in their basement. That must be the reason.

Maybe filtering then, is a part of the 'lack of punch' with them. Smarter peeps than I regarding amp circuits would know.

Went all year without really buying anything due to this crappy economy, and then...

I thought I was done....have my fav amp and 2 guitars....everything else is 'expendable' so to speak. Then, my daily driver went down, I have a newer Camaro SS...not much of a winter car so here comes another expense..sold an amp, guitar and a cab and found an old Rav 4 for cheap...got some $$...

Congrats! I've only owned 1 Ceriatone, a 2204 clone with a Fortin Cali mod. Cool amp, but after 1 weekend gig, the Sunday after I fired it up and POOF there went the PT. Got it replaced and sold it fast. If I ever went with one again, I'd order without the transformers and get a pair here...

Wow! Too bad it's not legit. Great amp and that's the time frame you want with a ch switcher. Tears ass on any 900, that's for sure. :giggle:

Let's not forget the 5150....Ed said to Hartley...."Here! Clone this...." and handed Peavey one of his 2 SLOs. Ed was pissed he had to actually buy the SLOs; most builders gave him free shit. Soldano couldn't afford to give amps away.

Marshall copied the 59 Fender Bassman. With some changes, however. The British players wanted Fenders but they were hard to get. So Marshall, who was a drummer and owned a Music store, hired a few radio tech grads (young dudes, 20 yrs old or so) and had them clone a Bassman. And it began......

A certain someone supposedly has a new shop in Cali and looks to be building amps again.....

My first one was a Red Bear chassis, cost me 180 i think and I found a cheap headshell for it. This went to my son for part of his grad present. Second was a JCM 800 1959 NMV that he made into a beast.....then, a 1986 2203 that he did a different type of mod....not super heavy but very cool. The...

Soldano SLO 100 - Pickups, Cabs, Etc?

My first SLO was a 2002 version. I had Marshall checker with 65s, Marshall VM with G12C Hendrix GBs, and a Fender Tonemaster from the early 90s with original V30s that came with the cab. They were a cheap way to score the non Chinese V30s. The amp sounded great through all except the Fender...

    NGD 1991 BC Rich USA

Mine are older. 1986 Jackson strat, and a 2009 Charvel SoCal candy plum. I'd feel the same way as you if I had to drop that kind of coin on a USA build.

Congrats! Those are amazeballs guitars. Too much $$ for me though, esp these days. But I'm happy with my Charvel/Jackson USAs.

Soldano SLO 100 - Pickups, Cabs, Etc?

Any cab/Speaker combo that sounds good with a Marshall, will sound good with an SLO. V30s, not IMO...too much 'mids on mids' crime there. But as stated ^^ Greenies, 65s, 80s, 75s all work. The Marshall Vintage, older 8 ohm 80s version also will work but they are rarer than Pulsonic Greenbacks.

    Marshall Evolution

User error. Last I checked, Exodus is pretty good, no? But, maybe that type of Metal isn't what you are referring to. Since you use Wizards, and I've owned a MTL and an MC100, I can tell you with my 72 Superlead, a pedal or two in front is EASILY a sound that is as good or better than either...
