One thing i like to do is Uber mode in channel 2 with gain max or close to max for a (transparent) boosted feel.
Wouldn’t be possible with my other Ubers without being a flubby mess. Tight + Focus and Metamorph gives you that kind of flexibility.
What I like about the Ultra is that i can still use an external boost with it if i want, like my other Ubers. But i don’t need to, it doesn’t need one.
Time will tell if i like the Ultra more than the others. So far i’m pretty amazed how it sounds.
My experience as well. The one I have now is my third one (rev green). I offer cash + the second one, to get the 3rd after comparing both amps together. The guy was going to sell the amp on reverb anyway.
I’m with you, they are close in sound. Not world appart like some people like to pretend.
Right now I’m always playing with the Ultra, cause it’s the new toy around.
But I still think the Rev 2 is my best one here. But it’s a matter of taste. I really like the 3 I have here.
Something was definitely wrong with the Rev F. It’s not a night and day difference between both. But the F is not supposed to be weaker or flubbier than a G.
I had good results by trying to use what the company had in the amp tweaking it, on the bench.
Beijing square getter C8 in the preamp & Mesa 6L6 STR-420 in older rectos is pretty much how they were supposed to sound.
I have a Rev 2/Rev Blue/UU, i didn’t compare them yet.
Hard to tell because the tubes are different in all of them. I’m still tweaking and learning stuff on the UU.
From my limited experience with the UU. The OG and Rev 2 are special for the reasons braintheory just described. But i think the...
I just got mine (EL34) last week. I love it!
I’ve noticed, i prefer passive pickups with this amp. It makes the amp shine. It’s getting quickly to modern with active pickups. Not the case with my other Ubers.
One thing I should mention that could be a factor in all this. I’ve noticed that you play in very low tuning. I like my Ubershalls until Drop B, lower than that i favor other amps.
