So I grabbed one of these to put it up against the Rev Blue and Ultra in my own home setting with my own equipment and cabs and I gotta say the internet is a funny place.

This version of the amp is so overhyped it’s puzzling. It’s an Uberschall. You either dig the sound or you don’t. All iterations have the same evil voicing that’s best described as the insane brother of a Mesa Rectifier.

I sold my TJ recently so I didn’t have that to put to the test unfortunately but all these amps get extremely close to each other. The feel of each amp I would say is what separates them the most but even then, they are anything but worlds apart like the internet likes to say. You guys piss me off! 🤣🤣

The Ultra is my favorite of them all. It covers all grounds and also I don’t know what you owners of all these amps as well are smoking but the Ultra has a more pounding low end than the green. It’s insane. The green is smooth, scooped and smeared and the blue and ultra are more defined and clear and open in nature but still can be dialed VERY similar to each other. Ultra is the most percussive of the bunch, including the TJ. Ultra is in a league of its own as for tonal options.

I’m going to make some clips soon and share. Gun to head, I would take the Ultra without a second of hesitation.

Cool.... i stumbled across somebody doing a TJ EL34 mod vs original uber... and results were wide apart... the original uber sound more pissed with the high end sizzle vs the TJ being less of the high end sizzle and more low mid refined sounded abit restrained.... but thats just clips....

Since i got my TJ its definately more metal than my Diezels... but i just cant put up to it that the fact it has just that very fine adjustment on treble mid and channel presence to sound nice..... treble sets way up... lol

So whats ya no1 and least favourite if you could list them up with ya no1 on top?
UU, Rev green, Rev blue and Twin jet ?

I've only owned a rev blue which I liked but honestly it was pretty generic sounding to me. I expected this insanely evil sounding amp but when it first arrived I was quite surprised and mildly disappointed. After playing it a while I grew to like it for what it was, but it just lacked any real aggressive character. It did sound thick and huge though.

Did it have fresh preamp tubes? Amps blow donkey dick if they have weak tubes in them. I just bought a DSL with its OG tubes and it was lifeless until I replaced the circuit board (well known issue) and retubed it. Completely different amp

I’m with you, they are close in sound. Not world appart like some people like to pretend.

Right now I’m always playing with the Ultra, cause it’s the new toy around.

But I still think the Rev 2 is my best one here. But it’s a matter of taste. I really like the 3 I have here.

Honestly the clips I hear of the ultra sound way more aggressive to me than my rev green. But then again I think Im still running stock winged C tubes, I really should change them out and rebias the amp.

Unfortunately or fortunately - however you look at it - the green Ubers vary from one to the next. I was digging my green so I got a second one…it was not the same at all. Very thick tone overall, a lot like the rev blue with a syrupy high end - not a lot of definition or articulation. I need bite in the high end.

I've bought and sold a bunch of "hyped" gear in the last couple years, but the Ultra is easily the best of the bunch, IMO. If you take the time to learn all of the controls and everything, the amp is just down right hard to beat. I've seen guys buy and sell them for varying reasons, myself included but now that I have it back, it's my number 1 amp and will likely stay that way for awhile.

My experience as well. The one I have now is my third one (rev green). I offer cash + the second one, to get the 3rd after comparing both amps together. The guy was going to sell the amp on reverb anyway.

What I like about the Ultra is that i can still use an external boost with it if i want, like my other Ubers. But i don’t need to, it doesn’t need one.

Time will tell if i like the Ultra more than the others. So far i’m pretty amazed how it sounds.

My experience as well. My first Uber was a Rev Green, as that was supposed to be tye one to get over a Rev Blue. Compared it to my friends Rev Blue and they were close enough in tone and I actually preferred the feel of the Blue, so I sold the Green, bought a Blue and saved some $$$.

I am also patiently awaiting my Uber Ultra el-34. Nice to hear it is just as pummeling if you want that, plus the ability to make it as tight as you want and tune the feel. Hard to beat that.
