Casual reminder that $900 amp made in 1992 would cost you roughly $1800 if it was made today.

Not sure what to make of this, but if James Brown designed it, I think he’s earned the benefit of the doubt over time that he’ll make a great product.

I think a lot of guys seem to misinterpret the intent of this amp. This isn’t some high end “5150 IV” meant to replace the current line. It seems specifically designed to be a lower cost alternative for musicians that don’t want spend or can’t spend $2k on an amp head, but still need practical features on a solid amp to use.

Yeah, lotta folks around these parts that think if something isn't the Rolls Royce of amps then the company shouldn't bother.

I'd have killed for a "full size" established-brand tube amp for a relatively inexpensive price when I was a handful of years into my playing and couldn't afford the really good stuff.

Agreed. I think most guys had a certain expectation of what this amp was going to be, so the initial reaction was disappointment when it ended up being a budget line. It was to no fault of EVH, though. However, I could also see why so many were thinking it was going to be something like a 5150 IV or reissued & updated original 5150: James Brown is back in the saddle; the leaked picture of that amp had the "5150" logo; the name "Iconic" was also filtered out. I think all of that just got folks thinking it would be anything but a budget line. I know I wasn't expecting where they went with it lol.

From a business stand point I get why they did this, though. Seems the Stealth amps have been around for a bit now, particularly the 6L6 one. When they put out the 50w versions those amps really started to sell and seem to have increased the popularity of the 100w version too. They probably want to still ride out the sales on the current III line up. This amp won't compete with those and will fill that lower cost alternative.

Always hard to know what is going on in situations like this. Maybe Ed threw the idea around of an old school Brown Sound amp but wasn't in a hurry to work on something like that. This might be Fender and EVH finally making that a reality.

I might be way off, but seems to me that this could end up capturing that old sound better than the current amps. All of us 5150 owners know that on these new ones, the gain is nearly unusable past noon in some cases.

I put my name in to be notified when one comes in. I'm curious about this for sure.

I agree! Not sure what Brown thought of the subsequent amps that Eddie used that James didn't help design,
but I think most everyone agrees the best 5150s are the ones he had his hands in the most.

I'm gonna weigh in. But I've owned 5150, Voodoo 5150, EVH 2x12 combo, EVh Stealth 100w. These look like garbage. The font is terrrible. It looks like Bugera 15 years ago. Anyone buying CCP garbage after this last year just stop. Wolfie should be ashamed, or whoever is in charge now at EVH.
It's officially "CVH"

There's plenty of low cost alternatives in the market.
This is clearly a cash in before many people forget.
But dude's, you can trust China with a MDF 4X12
cabinet with (4) custom designed Eddie Van Halen speaker(s) for $500...sounds like the CCP
dooped all of you and now y'all are selling amps for them!
Yep!
Once again!
Gotta hand it to them man...damn.
Well done China.....bastards.

Dont mind Donnie B. He`s liberal socialist experiment.

I have never figured why Ed didnt go with Marshall.
Once EVH found Soldanos, that's the sound he wanted. He couldn't land a contract with Soldano (he wanted Mike to give him a handful of SLOs for free), so he eventually struck a deal with Peavey to somewhat clone it.

Hey Panboy, be sure not to fly or get operated on.
Most of the circuit board assemblies in planes and medical equipment are MIC.

And for fucks sake - DO NOT USE THE STOVE IN YOUR KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!
