Maybe worry about following your own country's laws. Last I checked you live down under and are not a US citizen. The 1st Amendment of the US Constitution doesn't extend to you.

They think any observation about the state of play in the US from us is slamming them because they are so up themselves - even though they constantly bag themselves out and we bag ourselves out. They also like bagging Australia out though so it cuts both ways. Think about all their crap over our gun laws and the fact we protected our citizens during COVID. So fuck them all. I'll always tell it as I see it. Doesn't make me right but everyone should be allowed to express their opinion. Also, I don't hate the US at all I just have a balanced view of things - the good and the bad. They can do the same about here for all I care.

It's more about the type of guns. Like assault weapons imo. Saying guns were banned here is not really correct. You can get a licence for one if you meet certain criteria and the gun is of a certain type. You can't open carry like it's the wild west either.

I don't know. Handguns are pretty heavily regulated probably because they can be used as a concealed weapon. I haven't investigated what hoops you have to jump through. Like I said, it depends on the type of gun.

Seems weird that a country like Australia which is mostly wide open desert, would have such strict controls in a frontier environment like that. I know a few gun owning liberals that support assault weapons bans but plan on not registering any of their stuff if the legislation they want comes to pass. It makes no sense. Guns for me but not for thee I guess.

It's not surprising. Seems to me that's the way they look at everything. They think the law doesn't apply to them, just us animals.

I can't speak for Australians but I find it strange myself. Only thing I can think is that the vast majority of them don't actually live near any wide open spaces. The majority of the population lives in about 3 major cities. Look at Major US cities.

It's like Canada. Reality is if you live near the wilderness and don't have a rifle, a pistol, and a shotgun you better be right with the Lord like a hermit-monk or the bears or feral dogs is gonna get you. I can't imagine having to dance a jig with the gov just to get what amounts to a shove, pitchfork,l or hoe...necessities for country living.

No one lives in the wide open desert - so while it's a fair understanding of our continent's geography it's not a good understanding of where we chose to live in it. I bet not much of Canada's population live in their "badlands" either, although I haven't done my research on that statement so I could be wrong. Australia's population is 86% urban and the rest of the 14% rural would be mostly nice green rural country - not desert.
