Allen holdsworth has a warehouse storage with all of his equipment. He recently spent a couple days digging out his old les paul custom and his best sounding old marshall...
The dude died a little over 3 years ago, so that's quite a feat. I'm impressed.

Just ribbin' ya mate; all in good fun, but yeah, he died in April 2017 unfortunately.

My setup, just for home use,not plaing in a a band

Hamer Californian... hell yes!

Made in Korea,but a great shredder :)
I had the exact same guitar; one of the few where a Duncan JB really brought the goods.
I paired it with a DiMarzio Chopper in the neck; great combo...a bit Warren DeMartini like if you will.

Also had a later Korean (or Indonesian) version with the boomerang inlays; it looked better, but wasn't built as good. I struggled with a lot of pickup swaps in that guitar. Horrible Licensed Floyd as well.

Still stock pickups, duncan designed,i have to try that jb humbucker but this duncan designed humbucker is not so bad sounding

I was a terrible player when I only had one guitar, too. But, now I can be terrible with a guitar that compliments my outfit.

Too right, mate. I've got hundreds of monkey / chimp ones and used to rotate them once a month 'til the late noughties when I finally realised it was just too much trouble. Picked this one and stuck with it.

Kudos to you for having had the good sense to stick with something all-along.

Sorry about that, folks. Back to all things mancave.

Was never a fan of changing avatars :dunno:

Something about me not being able to recognize people easily and feeling slighted

I remember once on Ultimate-Guitar GGnA one time a bunch of us swapped avatars for a weekend. Fricken' chaos. I think we even swapped signatures lol. Hahahaha...what a mess.

Back to dem caves....

I enjoy looking at, talking about, and using gear. Maybe someone spent money on gear versus golf clubs or a wedding and divorce lawyer. Who cares? Does someone only deserve 3 guitars, but not 4 due to technique? “He has a Corvette, but he is a shitty driver. He really deserves a Tacoma”

Enjoy the photos

There's a difference to owning one Corvette instead of a Tacoma, vs. an airfield hangar full of cars like a Hennessy Viper, Bugatti Veyreon, Ferrari 250GTO, bunch of Lambo's, Shelby Cobra, Ford GT, etc, while being a subpar driver.

That's the point that some are making here; to have a basement filled with 20 4x12 cabs and matching boutique heads, while never having had a guitar lesson or played in a band. By all means, it's your money, but personally I wouldn't be spending so much $$$ on a hobby if I'm subpar at it.

Is that one of those Pioneer receivers from the 70s with like 275W per channel in the background? The ones I'm talking about sounded killer.

No, one is a 1970's toshiba that is like 250WPC or something and the other is a onkyo which is relatively low in comparison i think 125WPC. i realize neither are great names, but after going trough them and cleaning them up and servicing they sound great. i paid about $50 for each. i don't drop silly money into hi-fi receivers but my speakers and cartridges are pretty solid. i find that to be what brings in the bang for the buck with me.

i am however looking for another receiver to replace the onkyo in the cave, will likely be a higher end sansui. i just see what i can pick up that sounds good.

I get what you are saying but some people just like to collect stuff :dunno:

Also, some see it as an investment. Some own music stores and their 'stock' ends up on forums like this. Some have the disposable income and like chasing tones right.

I've never taken lessons, been in a band, or consider myself all that good but if I was single and had the disposable income - I would def have more stuff.

I got an arcade machine. 3200 vintage arcade games on it. Have I beat them all?
No...... maybe 10.
I have them cause I like them.

I've been playing since I was 12(freaking 30 years ago). I hit a plateau around 19-20 as a self taught guitarists but I played in a couple bands, did a couple shows then I started caring more about partying than playing. So in my 20's I played off and on until I turned 30. I started playing regularly with a cheap epiphone lp and plugins. Then around 35 I started buying gear and I grabbed a bunch of stuff that I wanted but was to strung out or drunk to make happen in my younger days. Then I lost my job had to sell everything. Now I've been buying more gear, taking lessons, and last year I played a venue that I always wanted to play(small club but its kinda legendary here). Im not in a band, have no interest in getting back in one but I dont rule it out. I have 4 amps with one on the way and two cabs. 3 guitars and a bass. Each one fills a special sound or inspires me in a certain way. Thats not a lot of gear by any means but its way more than someone like me needs but I play constantly. It makes me happy. I dont care to go out to bars, take hunting or fishing trips, hire high priced hookers, buy fast cars, golf or whatever bullshit guys my age do. It makes me happy and I finally broke through my plateaus to where Im seeing lots of improvement in my playing and I finally have some theory knowledge.

Long story short I sometimes look at pics of guys rigs who are playing drop d riffs poorly on a 4k Friedman, Wizard or whatever and think thats a waste(and Im sure some look at me the same way) but we all need hobbies and at least for the most part playing guitar is healthy. Honestly the money I have in gear could have easily been spent during a relapse or a hospital visit from trying to kill myself due to depression(which I know both situations from experience) so Im thankful for that. So buy whatever you want as long as it doesnt bankrupt you or leave you homeless or hungry. As long as you play the damn thing its money well spent.

How is it you can tell that guys with a lot of gear are subpar players, never took lessons or played in a band? I've played for 35 years. Took lessons as a teenager. Been in bands, for 20+ years some at the same time. Been with my current for around 15 years now. How can anyone look at pictures and know how well people play?

I live in a fairly rural area, There are no guitar shops here. When there was it was a country band guitar shop. If I wanted a marshall,/mesa/bogner... anything other than peavey and fender and crate lower line stuff. I had to get it online. Turns out it was fun 20 years ago. PayPal was free. Ebay fees were minimal and the internet had limited knowledge and reach. You could find a marshall jubilee on classified ads or Ebay with a flip phone picture and buy it for 650 and sell it for 2500 6 months later. Jcm 800s for 350 and all them for 500. Early super leads for 900-1100 Buy and try. If I broke even.. i got to try an amp for free in my own house or band setting. Made money.. I got to buy even more amps. Now it's a lot tougher but luckily I have a lot of the amps and guitars I want. Sorry. I fail to see the rationale In any judgements of peoples playing based on what they have, with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever.

I buy stuff cause I want it. Old enough to afford. And I enjoy it.
Shit I buy stacks of old comic books at flea markets.
Old vintage marvel. Dc. Etc.
maybe I should buy just one. Since I haven’t read them all.
