Mark used the Mercury PT for the 560V B+ voltage. Patrick at MM has the facilities to make these custom winds to order for builders. I am sure some others can build them. The OT is probably a 100 watt Dagnal clone.

Todd mentioned a CCV with Marshall transformers - that would be one of Mark's two channel (dual gain/clipping/solo master) Jose designs (not all were set up this way) that was the precursor to the CCV. I've got one of them.

Steve
I have a HG Jose too and it kills. Would love to hear the CCV with those Trannys. Wasn't Suhr doing Plexi tranny mods for a while?

Well maybe I am overreacting and it will all be good in the end? I was jet lagged, tired, etc when I made my comments. Trying to adjust to living/working in Belgium.

Dude, it's been like two years.....overreacting?

I have word that the proto chassis is en route to me.

Yeah, tell me about it.   I actually meant overacting to the PT transformer not being the like the first run. The wait is entirely a different story.

I think that's the deluxe goop option. I have seen the light goop and no goop variants over the years.

The Deluxe   I bet that amp is quiet and does not need a noise gate. When you stop playing at high volume and gain there is no squeal. If I cannot get an amp to not squeal at high gain and volume it goes.

That's right Gary, 150 dollar upcharge. Its Mojo personified... as goop.

No squeal or white noise here. One thing for sure, it hasn't been fucked with. The DNA is in tact.

It's going out this weekend for gigging along with a Langner Elite preamp.

Hoser....set up just like a CCV with two gains/individual clips/bright for each gain, solo master, no push-pulls, punch, voice, foot-switchable. Also has a 50/25 watt attenuator, loose/tight control and insert FX loop. Built on a Canadian import JCM2204 chassis. Certainly one of the coolest Jose's I have owned from Mark even though the chassis looks like afterbirth.....

I'm looking forward to the reviews of the new CCV. The first run builder did not do a good job at all. There were several issues with the build that had to do with grounding and design. I would much rather have one redesigned and built by George with Dave being involved than Barrang. That is a no contest for me. Also changing a transformer from Mercury to what one of the most accurate and knowledgeable reproducers of Marshall circuits recommends would be fine by me. There are better choices than Mercury in many applications. The CCV lacked mojo imo. It was stiff and somewhat lifeless. Cool amp but it got old quick for me. I want more feel in my amps. I have a feeling the new one is going to kick ass with soul and attitude. I'm waiting. I would blindly take a 2nd run over a first any day.

I agree about the build 100%, but the transformer for this amp is a key component in the Cameron sound. I know there are better choices as far as Marshall circuits, but the CCV is not a Marshall circuit. Just do not know why it would be changed expect may maybe to save money? I don't know?
You're wrong. It's very close to a SL circuit.

And all George said was there is a tech decision to be made on the PT. He said nothing about not using a Mercury. Besides most of the tone comes from the OT, not the PT.

I agree with that but why not make the PT the same as what was used for the first run. I do not think the CCV is entirely the same as a SL circuit though. The Atomica yes, but not the CCV.
I didn't say entirely...I said close and I'm quoting Mark Cameron if that helps. ;) You'll see when you get yours that with the clipping off it sounds very Plexi-ish which is a good thing in my book.

Yes, I am sure it is since it is based off the Jose circuit. Yes, but what about with the clipping on which is where the main Cameron tone comes from. I do love the Atomica and I probably could not tell the difference if there were different transformers in the CCV. Oh well, it is what it is, but I thought the new design was going to be exactly the same except the board flipped, but i guess not.
Well this is where team Cameron needs to spill the beans.

Yeah we as customers especially ones who had paid require an explanation of why the transformers are most likely not going to be the same as the 1st run. Are they even going to be the same specs as the MM PT to achieve the 560V B+ voltage as Steve K mentioned?

Test fitting parts and PC board to the chassis today. So far, so good.

Not sure there is room in the budget for that much orange-red varninsh though. Yikes!

I think the long wait for these amps has you reading too much into my statement about the PT. i have no knowledge of any electrical specs changing. But there was a discussion about mounting and possibly having wires exit the PT on both sides vs only on one. Things relevant to chassis design.

George, thanks for the update and the clarification. I agree it is like I am stuck in the desert with no water and hallucinating except I am stuck in Belgium which has the best beer in the world!!!

One thing I've noticed on my first-run CCV is there is a slight ghosting or channel-bleed on the clean channel. Under the notes and during note decay, I can hear the gain channel buzzing. Flipping some of the gain style switches on the second channel fixes it. But this is a two-channel amp. And if I can't get a good clean sound unless the second channel is set a certain way, then that's a huge issue for me. Hopefully this is fixed in the next run.

I agree I hope this is not the case, but George is building them so I am sure there will not be any issues!!!
