That's a killer looking guitar! What pickups you put in it?

Thanks man!
I love it...

Duncan Custom and a Stew Mac Golden Age single coil.. Don't laugh, it's not a bad-sounding pickup! LOL! :D Especially for $38...

You looking for a humbucking, but sounds like a single coil? IMO it's hard to be a Dimarzio Area '58 for that. I could never get enough "spank" out of any of the Duncan's.

I honestly think that I like the idea of single-coil more than actually having one! LOL! :D
But we'll see.. I hear great things about the Area '58.

Sweet! Were did you get the "Charvel" decal?

I made it... Printed it out. It's not really a decal, it's a sticker. I'll make a decal eventually. I've been looking for water-transfer paper.

I got a 50's style Fender decal off e-bay a few years ago that looked exact but can't seem to find a Charvel decal  I have a Warmoth alder body oil finished strat very similar to your's, great guitars. The funny thing is they play and sound better then a true Fender (not including the custom shop or vintage ones).

Yeah I've seen them.. There's water-transfer decal paper available, but I want to find it locally because the paper calls $8 and the shipping $8... to me that's stupid! LOL! :D

You're right! They're on par with with $2000 guitars. Especially if they're put together right.
I've thought about buying a beater Mexican strat and slapping one of those Musikraft, USCG or Warmoth necks on it and have a wicked strat. My little brother just got a Lonestar strat and it rips. The neck isn't bad, but if you put one of those after market necks on it, it will smoke.

Lynch REH video and listen to the solo over-dubs. I love that sound.

That's a beauty - and I don't usually go for natural finished guitars!

Shreder75 has the Lynch 'sword and skulls' ESP. It has an ESP version of the Hotrails. It sounded great.

I've grown to really like natural finishes. They're easy to do yourself and usually sound better than guitars with alot of lacquer.

Looks great Vlad!!

I love a single coil for the neck position, you may just need to find the right one.

I thought you oiled the body? it was darker in that first pic you took before it was assembled

Yup.. it's oiled. I think it's just the lighting in the basement along with the camera flash. Those pics are what it actually looks like in person.

which pix? the stand alone body or the pix of the whole completed thing?

Ya know, it's kinda growing on me. But it can't do certain things... eh.. it's ok. I'll try different ones, this one isn't 1/2 bad though for a cheapass pickup.

The standalone body pix. The completed ones are accurate color.
Another pickup you'd like... The DUncan Custom! LOL :D

Which one would you suggest Adam? I have a lot of trouble finding the right neck single coil tone.

In the right guitar the Duncan Custom is great. That guitar looks killer Vlad. You are making me want to put another guitar together.

Yeah it sounds really good... At first I wasn't sure about it because it was a tad bright in the swamp ash body, but I think it just may have been too close to the strings.

Dude this thing is great!! LOL! :D
I'm blown away at how good it came out. Screw ups and all... :D

I've got a Musikraft neck on my old San Dimas Charvel and it is just killer now. It had the old wide thin pointy headstock and those necks are so uncomfortable to me now. Now I can play the guitar again.

To tell you the truth, I have three Warmoths that are SO good that I am kind of looking at my two Suhrs and thinking "I could turn those two Suhrs into 5 more custom guitars or maybe a nice used shifter kart

Yeah it's flat, but not like an Ibanez or Jackson... it just feels right. Makes my axis neck feel funny and that guitar plays SLICK!! LOL! :D

I think if you know what you're doing as far as designing what you want, there's no reason why it won't turn out superb. I'll be building a couple more... ;)

Single humbucker/floyd
Some kind of Fat strat thing as well.. ;)

If I was to buy one I would go for a noiseless one like the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo Pro (because they are P90 sounding) or maybe the Dimarzio YJM. You know the Yngwie single is gonna be great for soloing. ;)

I keep hear really good things about the Dimarzio noiseless singles.

I have a relic'd sonic blue Warmoth strat with 3 single coils in it. Callaham vintage bridge and a set of Duncan SSL-1's in it. I swear it is so loud acoustically I close my office door when I play it unplugged if my wife is sleeping.

And no kidding, it sounds as good as my all original '66 strat and plays better.
