I have a relic'd sonic blue Warmoth strat with 3 single coils in it. Callaham vintage bridge and a set of Duncan SSL-1's in it. I swear it is so loud acoustically I close my office door when I play it unplugged if my wife is playing.

And no kidding, it sounds as good as my all original '66 strat and plays better.

Yup.. that's how this guitar is. My other one, which is mahogany does the same thing. Recessed floyd and all.. :D
This one more so, I didn't recess the floyd and it's right up against the body. It just rings and rings.

That looks awesome...what are the specs of the neck, as far as shape?

Thanks man! :D

It's the "D" san dimas neck from musikraft 12" radius 1 11/16ths nut 2 3/4 heel I think. Whatever is the default options.
22 jumbo med-jumbo frets, skunk stripe, 1/4 sawn maple 1 piece, dual-action truss rod...

Finished her up this morning... Still a few things need to be done. A couple fuckups need fixing. Not 100% sure about the pickups... But holy fuck!!!! The neck on this thing is to die for! It rings like a mofo. The sustain is outrageous. Quite honestly the best feeling neck I've ever laid my hands on.

Here are some pics

Nice! Reminds me of a Performance guitar I had at one point!!!!!

The standalone body pix. The completed ones are accurate color.
Another pickup you'd like... The DUncan Custom! LOL :D

JB with a ceramic mag..yeah, I'd probably dig it =D a cross between the JB and the distortion...maybe I'll put a custom in my M III =)

Well you better answer it!

is Musikraft the best route to go if someone was to venture down this route?

or... is there other places? Only other place i know is Warmoth.

Musikraft looks pretty sweet!

Cheers for any info

Musikraft is the only company that tries to reproduce to the Charvel specs as close as possible.

Thanks!

I love it! There's one on eBay very similar to that (in appearance anyway.)

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=020

That's my idea of the perfect shredder guitar. Strat shaped body, single coil in the neck, bucker in the bridge, floyd rose, etc... I would have an oiled body, though. But yeah, awesome guitar!

I'm seriously considering putting one together just like this (even with the floyd), but with an oiled body.

Couldn't agree more, 'cept I would go with either a HH or a HSS config.

I always liked those guitars, but Performance always struck me as shady for some reason so I stayed away..
Not sure why...

Yeah it's SMOKING!!! And it plays like you like I think. It sounds alot the way you described it.. if the JB and the Distortion had a kid, it would be the custom.

Warmoth, USCG, Musikraft all of them are supposed to be terrific. I haven't personally tried Warmoth or USCG, but their reputation is top-notch. I went with Musikraft because they had EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted to make a San Dimas Charvel. The Warmoth and USCG bodies and necks never looked exactly like the charvels do. I thought it was just the angle or something, but I held up my musikraft neck to another neck with a Fender headstock, they were different. The Musikraft san dimas was narrower and smaller.

Thanks Steve... :D
It wasn't super frustrating either... I think I took the right approach... "Try not to fuck up, but if you do.. oh well... fix it or get a replacement... " :D

I picked up this single hum with Floyd Charvel last week off of ebay. It is one made for the Music Zoo. I have to say, it is one of the best playing guitars I've owned. I've never owned a rosewood board on a Charvel type guitar but I am really digging it a lot. There was one neck I felt at the Fender/Charvel booth at NAMM that just stood out and this one feels exactly the same. I thought the last couple of Musikraft necks felt great as well but I won't know for sure until the guitars are completed and I can actually play them.

Yeah I didn't play that particular one, but I played one of the snakeskin ones a while back at GC. The neck was amazing.

Funny you should say that.. I was holding the neck when I first got it and I could tell it was going to be awesome. It turned out even better than I thought once it's on the guitar and ready to go.
