is Musikraft the best route to go if someone was to venture down this route?

or... is there other places? Only other place i know is Warmoth.

Musikraft looks pretty sweet!

Cheers for any info

Warmoth, USCG, Musikraft all of them are supposed to be terrific. I haven't personally tried Warmoth or USCG, but their reputation is top-notch. I went with Musikraft because they had EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted to make a San Dimas Charvel. The Warmoth and USCG bodies and necks never looked exactly like the charvels do. I thought it was just the angle or something, but I held up my musikraft neck to another neck with a fender headstock, they were different. The Musikraft san dimas was narrower and smaller.

Thanks for that Vrad!

Most Charvels were alder. You will find mahogany, hard ash, basswood, different types of maple also. The majority that I have owned or played have been alder.

I've got a Musikraft all maple San Dimas neck on the way. Should hit any day now. It's going on my maroon Charvel model 3. Those large, rounded Charvel bodies with a maple strat-type neck are the the tits to me. It gets no better.

To the OP, if that were my guitar, I'd never look at another one. Nice work.

Yeah.. alot of the San Dimas Charvels were custom shop guitars made to the customers orders so it's hard to nail down exactl specs. But alot were alder.

I had a quick look at the order page but didnt see it

they are all 25 1/2 from Musikraft?

Most charvels 25 1/2?

Cheers

Yes... they're 25 1/2 inch scale.

did you get the "charvel" body as well? I am looking into building one from them but i really want 24 frets and only their '65 style guitar is listed in the 24 fret version - and i kinda want a 24 fret charvel.

Yup... I modeled the San Dimas Charvels from the 80s.

You are very Welcome Brother! That said, you do realize that the HOM was using you as a guinea pig! Now that we know that the guitar is a winner, I forsee a few more forumites getting one of those bad boys lol

Looks great! How much do you have into it $$-wise if you don't mind me asking?

Also why swamp ash instead of alder if you were trying to do the 80's Charvel-thing?

:hys: When I read the description of the wood, it reminded me so much of you :inlove:

Ya know.... you really know how to make a man feel special...

Ya know.. im thinking about putting together one of these San Dimas parts guitars. I cant find another guitar that compares to my GMW Strathead, its my number 1 guitar. Maybe one of these would do great as a 2nd guitar?
