Sounds mean! I have been digging my new QR a lot. Second gear is my go to and kick on third gear for leads sometimes.

That guy’s a good player. What are the basic differences in tone/feel between KT88s and EL34s?

Bad.Seed - have you guys tried the "0" Treble thing? His tone is not trebly but when I put my treble on '0' it has the more open feel with no lack of treble - the rest in Presence. Like a lot of other Marshalls I guess. I think we talked about this before. Curious to hear your thoughts on that.

Bad.Seed probably had more info than I do but I did try the zero presence setting on my QR. I like my tone a bit brighter so I ended up pulling the presence back to 2:30or so and the treble up to 11:00 to 1:00 depending on how my ears are working that day.

Definitely have! I will be uploading a video on my KT88 supersport tomorrow where I demonstrate this as part of the playthrough. I agree, it opens up the mids and makes the sound just bigger overall. It rolls back the top end significantly but not in a muffled way. I just dial the presence up to compensate because I like a little top end sizzle

Fuck Yeah!

Here's my addition to the Splawn tones

These KT88 Splawns both sound incredible.
To me, it sounds like the best of a SLO combined with the best of a Fryette/VHT. Like a SLO preamp ran into the power section of a Deliverance.
Awesome.

I really hope these vids get some traction and Scott gets a ton of orders for new amps. I think the past few years Friedman has stolen all of Splawn's thunder which I think sucks. Not bashing Friedman at all but seeing post from guys who would never pay 3500 plus for an amp that Splawn isnt even on their radar. Or guys like me who love the hotrodded Marshall sound but prefer a more aggressive raw tone. Splawn is an easy choice. Scott could really do a little better marketing as well. He has made adjustments over the years that you dont hear about unless someone on a forum tells you.

Love both brands. Things I don't love about both amps: Friedman can be too saggy and Splawn's too tight/dry. But both are great and Splawns are in a league of their own and are of tremendous value. Nothing 'budget' about them compared to some twice their price. Just different.

I really want to try a Splawn with the new switches.

I'm the same way. the Friedman and Splawn are nice but both had things I wish the other had. I just wished more people would know about Splawn and that's where I think the marketing or lack thereof comes into play.

I would love to have one of the 50 watt supersports fully loaded. But I have a Ceriatone leviathan coming next week that will have to suit me for awhile

I loved the tone and feel of both QRs I've owned, but had major problems with the second one. Customer service was not very good, so I wound up fixing multiple issues myself. Numerous cold solder joints caused me all kinds of problems. Also had a PI socket that was cracked in half, but that honestly could have been the result of the previous owner. Major PIA and I won't ever by a Splawn again.

I just snagged a QR a few days ago, in addition to my PM (KT88) Nitro (KT88) and SUPERSPORT (6V6).

My QR and PM are currently running into a Radial Engineering Headbone going through the same cab. Clips will be coming soon from me, although the clips won't be pro quality.

I am 100% sold on the treble on ZERO. I don't know why but that's how they sound best.

Happen to have the mid cut and new/old on it? If so, can you demonstrate those?

Do you put the treble on zero on the Nitro too?

I have to retube and bias it, it was tucked away for a few years tbh, but I am pretty sure I did. I will have it up and running in the next few days
