Is this how you argue with your wife to deflect and use passively aggressive tactics to seem innocent when you've been called out.

It's not about JS shopping, it's JS needing a new amp to pull off the gig and everyone calling bullshit. He's exposed himself and we didn't expect a first row ticket to the train wreck.

A lot of the Hagar era stuff isn't all that special lead wise so I suspect Joe can handle that. If that is the majority of what they do, he will be fine. I am not all that interested in Bonham's son playing drums , Joe on guitar and Sammy singing though. Does nothing for me.

I have one . It’s a great amp in the scheme of vintage Marshall, vox , fender. At first it seems a little weird and overwhelming but if you listen to good players and work with it it’s pretty cool. Maybe not for everyone…

This thread is awesome! I could care less about dude looking like a lady (see what I did there…) if the fucker builds something I like then I’ll get it. Period. Doesn’t mean we are going to be “bosom” buddies or anything. Personally I do think this trannny stuff is hilarious. When I was in prison we had Buffy the muslim slayer…trailer swift…just to name a couple. Everyone of them could fight also….so think twice before fucking with a tranny. You might get your ass beat. I have seen it happen.

Yeah, I get it. Just saying, Al could get VH out of a Bugera. It's what cracks me up about the ad nauseum, beating a dead horse "brown sound" threads that have been rampant for years. It's not about the tone so much as the feel. AL has the it factor, Satch is an amazing player. But, he'll just sound like Satch trying to play VH, no matter who builds him an amp. Al has the feel down pat.

So you have a problem with a guy wanting a new amp? Called out for what?

You all seem awfully concerned about some real silly shit. Who gives a fuck what anyone did on that freak Stern's show?

Which is why I'm going to a couple shows. Love to hear what Satch can do with the songs. I've seen EVH, no offense to Al but I don't need to spend top dollar to see a Xerox copy. I'll catch his band later if I want that.

The Stern thing is always a joke to me . I mean what do you expect ?? The bands and Stern bullshit in this half assed studio and with him asking dumb questions ...... I mean it's rock and roll . Personally I didn't think a damn thing about until I started following this thread .
 
Side note: Ed and Alex were locked together mentally. Ed was great at writing riffs using the classic Call/Response method. Most VH songs revolve around this. What Ed would do is vary his attack based on whether or not he was "Calling" or "Responding". Go a little slower and behind the beat on the Call -pause- and then go a little faster and catch up to the beat on the Response. All within the same few measures at 4/4 time. Atomic Punk is a great example. That is swing.

3rd power seems to build awesome stuff

I’m just confused since volume shouldn’t be a concern and there’s probably 10-20 easily had amps that nail the VH thing.

But it would be really cool to be someone like JS and have a builder go all out for a big project.

It's like BizzarroWorld. If I got a call to play with a local Sabbath tribute I'd call that an appropriate excuse to go buy a new rig. You have what, $20k+ in your sig? I've got the same here. And I sure as hell want more, as I assume you do. JS can't?

If Sammy hired Al to play I’d search for tickets. Dude can play, and dude can play EVH. That feel is what makes or breaks Ed’s tunes. If you’re not having fun swinging the song then you’re likely over thinking it and going to sound like ass.

I find it odd that he wants to go modded Marshall and sound huge but Marshall’s don’t have the gain to hide behind like 5150’s (any genre). Marshall’s are still Marshall’s and Ed didn’t use a lot of gain in the Marshall era. If you’re not well practiced that’s a trainwreck and an embarrassment. I hope he gets his chops up.

If i was starting an EVH tribute band tomorrow the number one amp that comes to mind is an old school peavey 2x12. Slave it into a suhr iso box, Pipe stereo effects, send it to a peavey classic 120/120, and into two 5150 cabs. It would sound bigger than life and be gig worthy.
 
... but will this new amp have a ballsy sound?
