Dylana at 3rd Power Amps to build Satriani his next amp for the tour

I’m not getting all the “but he could have used a JVM (or Splawn or whatever)” talk. I mean this is RIg Talk bizarro world when we start talking like that. We all flip amps when “we could have just used X”. We’ve been waiting for Dave to release his vintage line…like we need that?…but JS can’t have an amp designed for him?

I don’t know if it is hate for Joe or reverence for Ed but…this is a weird thread some of guys sound like imposters with your “we don’t need another amp” nonsense. We always need another amp…even when we don’t.:banhim:

Also, I never stated I cared about him purchasing or endorsing new gear. Its just ridiculous that he's blaming the readily available gear he has access to for its sub par tone. Funny because Ed never had a problem with a modded plexi, Soldano Slo. When he did, he moved on to Peavey and then decided to do his own amps....which according to Mr. Satch....sounds small. Play a 100W Stealth EL34 and get back to me.
This in a nutshell. This is what struck me odd and why I originally commented on it in this thread. Nothing against Satch or him buying new gear, hell more power to him but his reasoning or excuse was just odd.

Well stated @purityS.L.G.

I think it’s more that Joe’s desired tone for EVH can’t be simply bought with anything at all that exists on the market which is nuts. It must be custom built from scratch just to him when at the same time, he just admitted he’s approaching the gig itself with a whatever let’s have fun attitude. Excuses for an artist endorsement. If he just wanted to go have fun, a valveking 100 could have done the job.

I think that’s why myself and others question the purpose. I hope the tickets are free to the show and the amp is dirt cheap because otherwise my point is proven.

Good luck in leading this asinine RT crusade against Joe Satriani buying a new amp.
Is that what it is? Damn, your mind is a small space. Did you injest bathsalts through your anus on a regular basis or are u missing a chromosome?

Your real name is banjo boy from now on. I even found a picture of you online at one of your concerts banjo boy.

Thanks man. It’s still baffling how there’s still some on this thread who still don’t get it LOL

I told my wife last night I’m having trouble nailing the White Stripes tone so I need to buy a Ground Zero Hellion to nail the feel.

What's weird is that he doesn't just use multiple amps to cover the different tones/eras etc.
Get a modded Marshall to cover OG VH, get a 5150 or Soldano for later stuff, and a JSX to cover Chickenfoot?

This is going to be a big tour with roadies. What difference will a few more amps make? Get a Bradshaw system to switch between them on the fly and incorporate the rack gear.

Joe's great. Surfing with the Alien was genius. 3rd Power makes great amps no doubt. Awesome reputation. Never played one.

I'm just generally asking why a JVM 410h can't do Montrose, Red Rocker era Sammy, VH, and Chickenfoot? Seems like the perfect amp. And I don't even care for the JVM personally. But yeah, if Joe wants a ground up new build to get his feels - knock yourself out I say.

Snatch is just woke, period. That’s why he wanted the Trans-Amp. Next, he’ll be proudly wearing the “EQUITY” slogan on a rainbow snow cap. Such a geek.

I have never heard him talk politics but your post did make me laugh :D He is a total nerd. Great talent though.

That and the fact that the Van Hager era tone in general was so over processed that the effects themselves played a bigger role than the amps.

I can't think of anybody that replaced a member of a band, or did a tribute show, that needed a custom amp built.
I watched the Tone Talk episode w/ Dylana, and she had these 2x12's using the same technology as the triangle 3x12's. Two of those 2x12's could be setup for wet/dry/wet.
I wouldn't be surprised if Joe uses these with the new amp.

I’m not sure I know exactly what your point is? We all know he doesn’t need this amp. But that couldn’t be less relevant. Maybe we are seeing the same thing and just on opposite sides? I mean, it’s a money-grab/promotion thing, that seems obvious but that’s normal business. That’s been going on since forever and that’s what businesses do. So I fully expect it and have no problem with it. I hope they make a cool amp and sell lots of them. I won’t buy it.

As far as the designer goes, I don’t gaf about any of that. I’m an adult now.

You sound like an angry teenager—can you even have a normal conversation or do you just spew out garbage when you don’t agree with something? My avatar is me chief. I also post clips all the time—I don’t hide behind anonymity. But I can sure see why you do.

My point is the lackadaisical approach to the tour, but the seriousness about the tone for it. EVH sounded like EVH through a trashcan. Estrada sounded like EVH with a Splawn. What does Joe need for a custom anything for this tour to cop EVH when woodshedding would go farther?

Didn’t Andy Wood just show that an EVH pedal setup through a clean amp sounded killer for EVH?
