Eddie trying to play eruption 2-20-08

What Im not sure about is why there are other videos taken from 2-20-08 that sound ok and then you have this one? What did he do take a pill and it tagged him towards the end?

If you watch during that solo it seems he has no left hand speed left and is having a hard time syncing up his hands during the tapping parts, like he has nothing in the tank maybe? I know after a while with my arthritis my left hand gets weaker as I play.

When I saw them in Nov, they were ON, all of them. Holy crap... someone get this man a stretcher, the party is over.

Man its a sad day when you realize you haven't practiced for weeks and can play better then your childhood guitar hero...

in december eddie was ok as well, but you could tell he was hampered. his hands moved at about 50-75 perecent during fast solos. if it is just his hands failing from arthritis i feel bad.

but if it's because he's gorked out again, that would bite. those "notes" he "played" between the mindless bends were the ramblings of a madman.

That's putting it mildly Pat. *still shaking head* If I were his son, I would be running far, far away from this as fast as I could. Now , no matter how good his son becomes, he'll always be tagged with the trainwreck that this tour has become. Sad...

"listen, i'm not gonna pretend i can shred anymore, but i have a guy here who kills eruption and who's playing i admire."

guthrie does an unaccompanied solo for about 5 minutes, then VH kicks in an instrumental jam and guthrie flies over the top with the most insane shredding, and then they go into another classic vh tune and guth bails.

nice way to please the guitar crowd???

well i thought about that too, but let's face it...anyone going to a VH show wants to see some gtr shredding.
sure would be a gracious way to launch guthrie's career, and everybody wins. guth would KILL it.

or-

he could just invite friends throughout the tour and change it up....nuno one night, ritchie kotzen another, dweezil another...it would actually be fun watching different well known players interpret eruption and jam away...i'm sure he knows millions of guys who would love to help him out and take the stage with VH for a night!!!!

Naww man. You've seen how the crowd eats this shit up even when he's sucking and just riding the sustainer all night. 99% of the crowd is there to see VH, regardless of their condition or even the quality of their performance. The LAST thing those people want to see in the middle of the show is some unknown shred guy come out. Heck, I don't even count myself in that 99%, but if I drop a couple hundred on VH tickets, I don't want to see some guy that I can see for $15 at the bar down the street. I'd rather skip the solo spot and see two more songs. And what about Eddie's ego makes you think it would work? He'd be throwing bottles at Nuno lol...

With all due respect bro bro, that's kind of like asking a guy to come in and bang your wife or girlfriend. That said, No one knows for sure if it's arthritis screwing him up or drugs. I think Ed just needs to sort it out.

On another note, someone just scored a Peacemaker on the bay for $1325 and a coyote for $1000!!!

Sorry Pat but I am having a hard time putting this together due to the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ asking price that Ed is asking for this tour and to have a hired gun cover for him. I am thinking that this would be a huge slap in the face to any musician to cover for a hasbeen so that he can make his $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ off of Fender and his fans so that he could continue to live large and throw it on display while hosting porno movie parties. Why is it we shake our heads telling the aging sports hero it is time to hang up the cleats but we embrace the aging rock hero or movie star and pine for years past? For years I was hoping that Mark Messier would skate away, that Ali stop trying before he was hurt. that Mario Andretti not be killed in that one last race. I know you saw an old Pele playing for the NY Cosmos and how that went.

Of course if GG was receiving half of the night's haul AND Ed got him a great recording deal as well I would look at it as a positive action on Ed's part and would have no issue with this.
