Getting very tired of such redundant threads about sellers listing items with completely arbitrary pricing. If their asking price is so offensive and egregious, why give them the free advertising?

I’ve been hinting for a long while we need a pinned thread dedicated to crazy reverb listings, this way everyone who can’t handle an overpriced item can get together in one group and talk about how it hurts them without clogging up the forum with multiple threads a day, this will keep things clear for important threads like bashing Tim Henson or that 1985 album

I have the Ceriatone Gargoyle. It’s supposed to be a clone of the Fartin. It smokes every Fartin amp I’ve ever had the opportunity to play.

I hate the whole "Ridiculous Reverb Listings" thing. People are entitled to sell their property for whatever they feel it's worth, even if that's ridiculous. They shouldn't be subjected to quasi-public ridicule for it.

Moreover, people who list things for ridiculous prices aren't usually actually trying to sell them; rather, they're just fishing to see if anyone is crazy enough to pay their asking price, or to see if they can work out a private deal.

Who cares if that guy wants to sell this amp for $25k? The impact to you is literally zero. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Who cares? Don't buy it. Move on.

I grow more and more convinced that the people who complain about this stuff are really just tracking it to see if it sells so that they can go and list theirs for the same price.

By the same logic, I'm free to to bitch and moan about whatever I want and you should just deal with it and move on without bitching and moaning about it lol ;)

The outrage over stupid listings and the hatred for YouTubers are two things I’ll just never understand with so many here. In most areas in life like real estate, stocks, cars or whatever if someone asks over list price in an optimal market it’s usually considered the smart thing to do, ask a few hundred too much for a desirable amp though and you’re considered a domestic terrorist. I see these listings, laugh and say “I think you’re fucked in the head” just like national lampoons vacation and I’m moving on to the fucking fun park. People here I picture pulling up the listing, an angry look of pure disgust appearing on their face, slamming their hand on the desk yelling profanity knocking over the mouse which they are now frantically grabbing to get to rigtalk to make a thread to out these greedy cock sucking motherfuckers

I don’t know, I find it comedy gold when someone lists an amp made in China that I can buy all day from Aliexpress for 799 listed for 14k. 😂
Even if it is a typo.

You're welcome.
I have a buddy that had a meshuggah off the first run and sold it after getting the Ceriatone version. He said it actually sounded better which pissed him off that he sunk so much money into the Fortin version. I've never been attracted to that sound. The Super hi 50 or whatever the hiwatt amp was would be tempting but I think you are the only person that traced it out and I think you said it wasn't 100%. Have you ever done a hiwatt clone and modded it? Seems like it would be a ton of work to get it "hotrodded" but honestly I'm still a complete novice on building so I have no frame of reference.

Nah, I never bothered to finish tracing the Super Hi. I covered most of the bases though. Some of the eccentricities and quirks of the original Hiwatt circuit were never corrected in this amp. And the FX loop was god awful. That said, the actual tone of the amp was great.

Agreed. Always felt the same. It’s having the opposite of effect of what they want

The flip side is hopefully someone will be smart enough to research (Google) the amp to see what people are saying and get comparative pricing and then possibly come across Rig-Talk, where free speech can set them free :)

Crazy money for the gears these days !! Such high order riches whom they could afford is choking up the music market...

The Super Hi is supposed to be a Cameron Aldrich knock off, right?

The last line got me wondering what else do you want then lol

The core sound of the amp is good. But the FX loop is unusable and incredibly noisy (hum, buzz, radio). The bias circuit is typical Hiwatt fashion and you can't actually bias normal tubes up properly without modification and the amp came direct from Hiwatt with a crazy mismatch because of this and could possibly magnetize the OT if I hadn't caught it. A few other little quirks. I thought about just rewiring the amp and fixing everything but wasn't worth the trouble since my own amp sounded just as good so I sold the Hiwatt.

I see now. What is your own amp?
It is very interesting actually to have the knowledge to fix all these issues up and then some!
