I see now. What is your own amp?
It is very interesting actually to have the knowledge to fix all these issues up and then some!
It's an 800 clone w/Jose mod.

Wait, Super Hi sounds similiar to a modded 800?It's an 800 clone w/Jose mod.
No, I believe he meant his amp is an 800 clone with a Jose type modWait, Super Hi sounds similiar to a modded 800?

Sorry, my bad. Have you tried cloning an Mk2c+? This idea haunts me through the nights.Oh I said I thought my amp sounded just as good, not that they were similar.
I just wrongly decided that he meant his 800 covered Super Hi’s ground, that led me to misunderstanding. Sorted this out.No, I believe he meant his amp is an 800 clone with a Jose type mod
For whatever reason your very rarely see any amp builders try to clone the Mesa/boogie mark or rectifier amps. Strange & maybe unfortunate since both of those are some of my favorite amps. I don’t have the tech knowledge myself to know whySorry, my bad. Have you tried cloning an Mk2c+? This idea haunts me through the nights.
Because Randall Smith isn’t shy about threatening legal action against anyone whom he even mildly suspects has lifted even the slightest idea from a Mesa amp, despite Mesa being notorious for doing it themselves. For whatever reason your very rarely see any amp builders try to clone the Mesa/boogie mark or rectifier amps. His own amp is gnarly. Sounds absolutely bad ass. Dude is an amp wizard.I see now. What is your own amp?

Maybe that’s why the Bugera Mark IV copy never came out and the trirec seemed to not be out longBecause Randall Smith isn’t shy about threatening legal action against anyone whom he even mildly suspects has lifted even the slightest idea from a Mesa amp, despite Mesa being notorious for doing it themselves.
Holy shit...I completely forgot about the Bugera Magician hahahahahaha!!! Oh man, the threads and convos back in the day when those were teased at NAMMMaybe that’s why the Bugera Mark IV copy never came out and the trirec seemed to not be out long
But do we really want anyway worse sounding, pricy boutique, flavor of the month, neutered sounding versions of boogies like we see with countless “boutique” amps trying to be like Marshall’s, Vox’s or Fender’s? Maybe it’s for the better
Agreed, but it’s not like Fender, Vox or Marshall can for themselves either, although seems like Marshall at least is doing better at itMesa boogie can't even copy or recreate their own amps
Thanks for reminding me it was called a Magician haha (I forgot) and for reminding me about the BC30. Those amps may have actually sounded decent if they came out, but we won’t know I guessHoly shit...I completely forgot about the Bugera Magician hahahahahaha!!! Not gonna lie, I really wanted to try out their Bad Cat clone but never saw them anywhere at a guitar shop nor for sale on CL. Did that one ever get released? I know for sure they were up for preorder.
EDIT: They did. Just checked Reverb. BC30 it was called LOL
Interesting. I thought all the patents are expired. Then again, what can he do if we build some in other country?Because Randall Smith isn’t shy about threatening legal action against anyone whom he even mildly suspects has lifted even the slightest idea from a Mesa amp, despite Mesa being notorious for doing it themselves.
We haven’t yet seen “boutique” or any orher copy of Mesa yet, so might sound just as good. That’s why I am so curious.Maybe that’s why the Bugera Mark IV copy never came out and the trirec seemed to not be out long

I’d lie if I didn’t say I’m curious as well, but the one aspect we can’t really rely on any of them getting right is the more raw, mature/seasoned sound of the vintage amps, but a more modernized take is interesting to me too. I’m just sick of amps trying to sound like something they’re not (vintage or raw)We haven’t yet seen “boutique” or any orher copy of Mesa yet, so might sound just as good. That’s why I am so curious.
A Rectifier clone would then be a clone of the clone, because the M/B Rectifier basically is a SLO100, just with a few component value changes, other output tubes and the power supply extended with additional rectifier tubes. Mastermind of the Rectifier is and remains Mike Soldano. For whatever reason your very rarely see any amp builders try to clone the Mesa/boogie mark or rectifier amps.
Direct copy can yield the needed result I guessI’d lie if I didn’t say I’m curious as well, but the one aspect we can’t really rely on any of them getting right is the more raw, mature/seasoned sound of the vintage amps, but a more modernized take is interesting to me too.
