"I was always a Meshuggah fan and Mike knew that, when he handmade the first 6 meshuggah amps he offered me one, of course I bought it. I paid $3600 ish after the smoke cleared. It was underwhelming and I took it to Friedman for him to check out. Friedman looked inside and said it was a "double Jose" made from $1400 in parts."

I'm sure the Fartin Army will go after Dave now for calling Fartin amps what they are. Junk. $1400 kit amps ghost-built with Chinese parts and a $3K price tag.

FWIW, I'd expect $1400 in parts to add up to a $3k price tag on an amp, and China is the top supplier for everything electronic including a lot of high quality electronics. The days when China was only equivalent to poorly made junk is a long way in the rearview mirror when it comes to electronics.

I'm inclined to believe that Fortin is guilty of ripping off circuits wholesale, but wouldn't be comfortable with going farther until I had schematics to compare for myself. So, you may have a good point there, just not on the cost of parts vs. final cost of an amplifier IMO.

I personally feel like Mike Fortin could probably use a different PR guy

If it is true that Mr Fortin contacted Larry as simple minded guitar enthusiast (if I read that correctly earlier) looking for a schem and then used that information to create a whole amp company with 'original designs' - then I would say that is shameful.

Still catching up on this goodness BUT I think the points many people refuse to accept are these. The thread(s) could have literally ended on page 1 but everyone likes a little drama.

Obviously it is not illegal but as I said before not everyone has to agree but others do not get to decide what people's opinions are going to be. I think stealing someone's work is a scumbag move and we all know about the PR guy.
