Great review

Now for the stupid question of the day , when you guys refer to "scooping or diming " what is that mean
I almost didnt want to ask , but even though Ive played awhile , Im no new to learning how to EQ tube amps. So if anybody could help a noob out it would be cool.

Scoop - take out something - for example, bass 7, mids 1, treble 5.
Dime - the setting is all the way up. Started out referring to the volume being on 10, but since some amps "go to 11" - it just means all the way up.

All I can say is that I am thoroughly impressed with the JVM.
Ralph and I beat up the JVM for a few hours tonight...
This amp is a true to heart, Swiss Army Knife of tones.
It does everything it should and more. The cleans are amazing. The low and mid gains are amazing, and the high gain is simply sick....
Super tight in every aspect, but still breaths and fills the room with thickness.
We tried the head through a few cabinets..
CAA/Suhr with MC90's, Fuchs with Eminence Patriots, Marshall w/ 75's and the VHT FB.
And shockingly, the VHT absolutely devastated the other cabinets...especially recording. But the MC90's came in 2nd....
And to set the record straight, the JVM eats up and spits out the Splawn QR by a mile. There is no comparison. The JVM can duplicate anything the QR can offer, then take it up a few dozen notches.
It can literally duplicate your favorite vintage Marshalls and take them to a new level.
It has more tight saturated gain in the OD1/orange channel than most high gainers like Engl, Framus, and Diezel.
Let's put it this way....
Ralphie was more than happy with OD1, Orange and the gain at 11:00 with his GMW.
OD2 has an even tighter, scooped, nu Metal type sound. But it stays articulate even under extreme settings.
The reverb is great and very usable, and didn't take away from the tone.
I've only scratched the surface of what the amp can do since we got stuck in the OD1/Orange setting....
I can honestly say, that if you like Marshalls, THIS IS THE AMP TO HAVE....
I may buy a second one and throw in KT77's just for shits and giggles...
Everyone who is getting one should be extremely happy....if you are not...take up playing the Xylophone.....
Steve

Glad you guys dug it in person. Its an awsome amp fo sho!

Carl , what kind of cabinet/speakers are you playing your jvm through ?
I ordered one yesterday you bastards :D

Hey Bro, I have a lesson with Terry On Saturday. Im not sure if that is closer to you then My house, but If it is, I can bring the amp to the lesson and you can meat me there if you want. Let me know!

Thanks..I played marshalls for years , but got caught up in the boutique stuff for the past 5 years . I knew I'd be back to marshalls someday because i always compared those to marshalls mids  I have to pick up a 2x12 for it very soon. Enjoy !

My main cab for a few years now.
I got a Mojo-built Marshall slant 4X12 with the '68 specs.
It came with G12H-30's. A few years ago I thought I blew one of the speakers and put 4 Tonkers in. There wasn't any huge change in tone with the Tonkers in it and they handle 150 watts apiece.

I'm sure you'll like the amp with all the channels/ modes.... most people with a decent ear will find their favorite tones.......other guys, who demo the amp in the UPS truck won't like it.

Hmmmmmm....my lesson is next week so you could just drop it off if it is ok with Terry??? I am sure he would not mind a demo amp for a week!

I am freaking wide open for the next couple of weeks.

Yes, the master is real smooth and will take you right down to very low volumes.

Splawn........
kngt.gif

dude...is that really necessary...if this thing's a splawn killer then other people like cameron/bogner/etc need to be worried also...where's their names?

do you need to post something disparaging about splawn in every post?

Hey daneyo I was born in englewood, I lived in hackensack, and lodi.
And I used to work in the bronx and brooklyn till I moved to florida 8 years ago,now I live in maryland for about 8 months.

I haven't seen much written about the attack and feel. Is it spongy like older Marshalls? Or, aggressive like the newer ones?
Totally aggressive tight and fast. This sounds amazing at lowest volumes as well. i have been playing on Koch, Soldano, VHT and Diezels the last few years and NOTHING sounds like a Marshall like a Marshall does. Well, Soldano is real close. :D
