Gibson Announces Limited Mark IIC++

While I was kind of hesitant to look at the RIs as pure money grabs, this totaly is one. Not so long ago, you ware able to get the ++ mod by simply sending your amp in.
It`s the same strategy Gibson is doing with their guitars. You get the limited run, and after a few years, if another cash grab is needed, the previously limited amp will be made available again in large numbers. Everything will be sale oriented on the back of Mesas legacy.
No wonder Randall Smith clashed with the higher ups at Gibson

I'd be a little salty if I just spent $3700, and they didn't announce this would be following so shortly. It must be way more loot.

Definitely - if I was Gibson I probably would have done the RI at a lower price point if I was coming out with this immediately after.

What isn’t a money grab though?? Mesa I’m sure saw the demand and prices iic+’s are getting, thanks mostly to forums like this, and they jumped on it. Six months ago people would be bitching “why don’t they release a legit iic++, fuck the mark vii”, now they do it and we bitch. Or am I seeing things wrong?

I think you guys will be surprised at the price. I’m not sure why everyone think they will be above $4k. Now if you just bought a regular IIC+ and really wanted this version, then yeah I would be upset maybe. But then again you can probably sell your IIC+ for minimal loss right now. It’s pretty clear to me in how it was described in the video that it’s not a mod to the existing reissue, meaning you have to buy either or version, and this can’t be turned on/off to become a regular IIC+.

With only 200 worldwide, I definitely think the prices will be higher than MSRP on the secondary market though.

Gibson recently sold Hammett LPCs for like $9,000. I don't know why they'd price a run of 200 amps, aimed at the same market, for under $4,000. But I'd be happy to be wrong.

They'll release two models similar to one another with zero other additional features using the same oscillation problem board. The added gain from the mod will be even more unstable and a shit experience to use. Also the differences will otherwise be nilch and that will make it easy for the general public to figure out the differences in the preamp (since it's not in the poweramp design modification) and then there will be public IIC+ to IIC++ mods for all.

Gibson doesn't know what they're trying to do - they could cause the whole thing to come crashing down in their face from their own greed.

Let's refer to it as the Peter Green / Gary Moore Les Paul. Kirk wasn't fit to roadie for those legends.

"We" don't bitch. "We" bought our three DRG's before the prices got out of control.

As said prior there’s only 200 being made in the world. The reissues won’t affect real values and if anything won’t be able to be pentode converted at the same time like was done on some conversions.

It’s just a money grab from Gibson and it was predictable.

I’m not mad they made a recto reissue either, I’m mad they discontinued the multi watt quietly months before to force sales. If the rumors are true and the multi watt is truely getting refreshed then I’m holding off for that and It had better not be a refreshed lunchbox 25W.

I hate Gibson, but they bought Mesa to make money, so this appears in line with that objective. Do any of you get this upset when your company raises prices or has limited offerings?
