Guitar Sound or Tone you are bored with?

Dumble ANYTHING

I'm sure they're amazing in the room but Jesus Christ am I sick of hearing people cum their pants over a farty, grainy, honky jazz fusion lead tone or a clean tone you can get with literally every fender made before 1976
You nailed it.

"Grainy" is always how I describe Dumble OD. It's the fanboy amp circuit right now. Sounds like some tech got a hold of a Twin and junked up the circuit because that is basically what it is. A twin is "too loud" but somehow the dumble copy always gets a pass.

Gibson into Fender BF/SF and Gibson into Marshall 4 hole never gets old sounding though!

i think its the "modern" productions i dislike more than any individual style or tone, so many new bands i hear that i could enjoy more if not for the same sterile cookie cutter productions of the last 20 years they have.
Same drums with same axe efx tone
Over and over . Then a guy screams . I’m a death metal guy .think about how Death , Corpse , Carcass , morbid Angel , and Deicide . They all had different guitar sounds drum sounds and vocals . Fuck me I love metal but they do get the same damn sounds . And btw I hate axe efx . But they just go for the same sounds , no tweaking to be original
Edit : I have axe fx 2 . Use if for effects

The one ODS I tried was not grainy at all to me (at volume). One of many things that made it (and lots of exceptional gear) special was that it was so present without imo having an iota of anything harsh/grating/unpleasant or any unmusical qualities interfering with its tone yet somehow very cutting. The only other amps I’ve tried so far with that kind of musicality to the sound (but not as good admittedly) are my Jim Kelley, some Alessandro’s and Gjika

This X infinity…For fucks sake stop obsessing over someone else’s tone and get your own!
People have been saying that about Eddies tone going back 40 years but as Dave Friedman recently said in an interview, that tone is still viewed and sought after just as much today as it was 40 + years ago.

I hate clean tones and amps that are overly saturated . Guitar tones that have great sustain but remain extremely articulate without mush are my favorite .

My question is who, today, has a tone that is not derivative?

I cannot think of anyone.

That ‘chugga chugga’ tone that one particular YouTuber manages to extract from each and every amp he has ever (will ever?) demo. Why buy more than one when you invariably find the exact same horrible tone out of every single amp that stumbles into your hands?

THIS! I wonder how he manages to dial every amp to sound so shitty ?

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm starting to get bored with Thrash. Not sure what it is exactly, I just feel like it is getting repetitive to listen too. Still love old school Metallica and Megadeth.
I can’t disagree. I feel much the same.

As a Rig Talk prospect I have been ordered to confront you about your EVH tone remarks. EVH tone NEVER gets old.
I've been told that there is some people who have actually admitted that they don't care for that tone . Mind boggling I know but that's what I've heard . Now get this , you want to hear something really nuts ? I've also heard rumors that some people (extremely mentally ill is my guess) but some people actually prefer the sound of a single coil pickup , no joke , I mean WTF !!

The rise in Fender guitar/single coil popularity can be correlated directly with the increase in the number of men identifying as women.
