Has Rig Talk become The Gear Page ?

You know I pride myself on being able to get along with just about anyone. I have friends that I am complete polar opposites on many issues. We don’t have to agree but that doesn’t warrant attacking someone else for having a different opinion or perspective. I guarantee that if we all got together it would be a blast. Then after that we would go back to calling each other stupid or ignorant again… lol. Did I tell you guys my opinion on Canadians? They are all just so…nice….

To the OP, to be honest, the main difference I see in RT from TGP is this is a more close knit group. I recognize and feel like I know people here (to a certain extent).
I also feel like people here will argue on one thread and unite on another which I think is unique and very cool.

OTC is very political and divisive, but it isn't all that bad if you take things in stride and have fun with it. You just have to have really thick skin to survive in there. Even the people I highly disagree with on certain topics I think are genuinely good dudes that I can have a normal conversation with.

I agree with you your assessment of the difference between RT and TGP is a close knit group. The little interactions I've had on TGP feels more like cliques. Like if you're not part of the clique, you're an outcast. We have a comradery here that brings everyone together on common grounds. RT welcomes the outcasts.
 
Myself and the other mods decided a long time ago to really do the free speech aspect within reason of course. Has Rigtalk paid the price for it? Probably. Does anybody really give a fuck? Probably not. OTC is for the intense non guitar and amp debates. We have a section on here for everyone. One thing about it is you can’t please everyone so why try? It is what it is. Partake of the family atmosphere that we try to foster…. Even if it’s like the hot stepmother or stepsister type of family…shit…

It's because of that free speech aspect that most of us love this site, and trust it enough to do gear deals

Totally agree. There isn't a better place on the internet I've found with a more knowledgeable and helpful group of people for all things high gain. Most other places are filled with people totally full of shit, talking like they're experts. There are a few of those folks here too but at least we're allowed to openly mock them. :D

politics: there's a lot of conservatives here. I'm not one of them. I vote blue on most things even though there's plenty of leftist positions I don't like like at all, like most of the "identity" nonsense. However, if Trump and Obama themselves can sit next to each other at Jimmy Carter's funeral and yuk it up like old buddies, I think we'd all be fools not to be able to do the same.
