Ha, Its going to be crowded how many do you estimate?

I have no idea, it's gonna be insane. We also have a lot of great guys for amp setting; John from Mesa Boogie, Dave Friedman, Bruce Bouillet, The Bogner guys, Rob from Tone Merchants, a bunch of my friends who are big LA producer/engineers etc... Gonna be sick, I will go all night if I have to. I also added an extra couple of minutes to the recording template to give more time per amp for setting changes.

Sounds like a busy night! Hopefully this will help me choose my next amp purchase :D
Crossing my fingers that the herbert will be my favorite.

I read the TGP thread, it's funny to question James ability to demo all these amps, he did the pickup shootout (23 pickups in one day) which was insane.
He also did plenty of shootout on Gearslutz.

Keep up the good work James, it's greatly appreciated

Voodoo is the Great Pharo of HCAF days, of course now at TGP he is all knowing in regards to all Dumble :hys: :hys: His VooDoo studio's website has been under construction for over a year now and he has taken down his myspace link after being asked many questions about it

Thanks guys. Yeah he freaked me out for a minute there, I wish I had never reacted in the first place. I should now by now but I'm still a headcase sometimes.

I'm heading into work and meeting my engineer, we're going over the final preparation for Saturday. I want to double check all the speaker sweet spots, mics and pres with him in the room. I added time to the recording template to give us more recorded time per amp to twist knobs and switch channels. I've also been practicing, so hopefully I play better...lol It looks like the main guys playing are going to be me, Dan McMains and Bruce Bouillet. I'm trying to get my buddy John Ziegler to come up and play, great guitarist. Kind of a fusion/rock guy ala Lukathur. He runs the big Monday night open mic night at the Baked Potato in LA.

James

The Scumbacks sound amazing! Every clip sounds so good, just a little different flavor with the mic's. I can't believe how different the Orange cab sounds from the Marshall, could stand out well in a mix situation, but I like the M75's better. Looking forward to Saturday, nice work James!

hey james, is there a updated amp list now? :)

I lost track. Some of the amps listed may not come but there's a bunch that are not listed that are coming. So we will know Saturday. I know of about 20 amps that are gonna be here and that's not including the amps that rig-talk, TGP, Metroamp and gearslutz member are bringing. Probably around 30 total. Tone Merchants and Dave Friedman are probably bringing 12 amps or so combined and Bogner I think is bringing 3 or 4, John at Mesa Boogie Hollywood is bring 2 (Mark V, Stilleto), I think the Wallace arrived yesterday and I have 6 (3 Marshalls, Herbert, Orange, 2 ch Dual Rec). Tone Merchants I think are bringing a Bogner Fish, Elmwood, Southbay, VHT etc... Dave Friedman's bringing a VH4, Soldano, Marsha etc... It's gonna be very cool.

The Wallace just got here and a guy emailed and he's bring 2 Framus'. We worked more on speaker and mic stuff today, it was awesome wait till you see the video.

We'll have a drink on you. Actually they will have a drink on you, if I drink I'll end up hanging from the ceiling with a Uberschall sticking out of my ass. lol

I got it, I think it's the best sound we've ever got at my studio and it's totally customizable. It's the Scumback Marshall straight cab with 3 M75 and 1 V30. Mic an M75 and the V30, each speaker has a 57>Neve 1272/421>API combo. 4 mics total, perfectly phased. You can blend the mics to get different sounds, better then EQ. This file below is the 57 at unity gain on both speakers and the 421 down about 6db from unity gain on both speakers. It was a good basic blend. It sounds absolutely massive in my room, incredible. The 1 V30 adds just a little kack to the sound. So 2 mics on 2 speakers in 1 cab. SM57/421/1272/API.

Can we get a nice simple run down and opinion on all the amps after the show? That would be great.
