What might explain, that a few times for each a few seconds I could hear the DINO's sound going into the right direction, though never met it.

Good broken in G12H30's, Vintage 30's or a X-pattern of these is, what the DINO likes best. Each combination with its distinctice, but always dino-like character.

You got it Larry  Next time we'll make sure to record it through Dave's H30 Marshall cabs and I won't be tweaking the knobs like nipples
Out of respect, you'll be forwarded the audio to give approval for public posting or not :)
Cheers,
Mike

It's a shame the Mills cab was mic'd and used for the Meathead and Larry clips. Doesnt seem to lend itself to micing. The Marshall cab clips sound much better. The Hulk and Cali have the best recorded sound to me.

I think "better" is legitimately a matter of taste in this context. That Marshall cab sounded excellent, but so did the Mills for the Meathead clips! (awesome enough that the next cabinet I'm getting is a vintage esque-4x12 with Blackback 30 55hz clones).

Cheers for bringing that awesome box to the fest psychodave
IMO it doesnt sound near as good. The recordings of those two amps sound weak in comparison, sorry.

Yeah George, for the type of tones you like i know you wouldn't have liked the type of tone the Mills was putting out. But it was most likely because of the speakers in it. I know you hate V30's! :D

I played the Meathead and Bones on the Mills but i would have much rather prefered to hear them on Daves old Marshall cabs.

This circuit is way different to the Bite & Punch circuit in the DINO, what actually are two different filter types for British HotRod and Scream.

If you've really realized a dino-like grind and tightness in the Hulk mod's sound appearance with the Garnet type filter, then my respectful compliment!
Thank you very much for the compliment Larry! I think that you are giving that clip too much credit. In the room, it did not sound like that or nowhere near as good as the Dino, IMO

But you've mentioned Andy Marshall, what gave me the catchword and reminded me to situations at Musikmesse Frankfurt in 1998, where I've been with my DINO. There a few times every day Andy Marshall came along with a guitar in his hand, settled down and played always for about 10-15 minutes through the DINO, he liked its sound very much and always said things like i.e.: "Unbelievable, that a razor blade looking amp has such a tone, such a warmth!" Though he almost always has used the California channel in SRV-Texas mode or the British channel in crunch mode. These were highest compliments for me at that time
That's so cool! Andy is one of the most humble and nicest human beings I've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm looking forward to our next MIAC lunch hang!

Cheers,
Mike

I think your recordings are some of the best I've heard come through here, I freaked when I heard the Meathead clip, it's perfect! it really is! sounds so damn good! I played it non stop today for a but and just gets better!

If you take your clip down because of Larry, I'll be pissed off, if he can't get over how his amp sounds then he needs to grow up. Otherwise I'll move on from this place if this is the kind of bullshit that goes on here.

The Hulk amp was mine, and I'll get it back eventually, and as I said to Mike if he made my amp sound like the Dino, then I don't want it! hahaha

The Hulk is an amazing amp and I'm glad I had the chance to own it, but considering what I will own in a month or two, I'll be happy for the rest of my life, especially since it was built by the nicest, most humble amp dude I've ever met not some egocentric person looking for the spotlight.

seems the curtain really is being lifted, but not on Mike.....

Hey Chris,
It's all good man, no need to get upset. It's an open forum and everyone can have their say. Also, you have to give credit where credit is due, when you played the Dino at my place, you loved it. Come on   I remember the look on your face :)
Cheers Bro and see you soon!

being able to jive with the older gentlemen at FortinFest speaks for itself in the way that I am a mature and relatively knowledgable young adult.

"Older gentlemen"  Next ampfest will be at a nursing home :D

Your manners are exquisite young man.

Now, go clean your room !

  Respect is respect. I'm 21; the second youngest person there I assume was around 35. I was the only person there who doesn't make enough money a year to live by themself. You have to give it up for people who are older than you who are successful and experienced enough to be able to afford a house and have kids. That stuff ain't easy.

  I'm turning 40 in January. Greg, I'm old enough to be your Dad
Well that settles it, next amp fest I'll have to ask for ID before offering beers to anyone :hys:

Ziltoid OUT!

First huge thanks for your highly appreciated statement about my/your DINO! But no, Mike! Credit where credit is due! To be honest, the Meathead clips didn't blow me off of my chair (as well as the DINO clip didn't) - but the Hulk mod clip... simply killer! You can't imagine, how much I'd have liked to be also there at the Ampfest - but no bridge over the pond  And I'd have liked to hear the Hulk mod and the DINO - but the British HotRod, not the Scream channel - through the same cab, same guitar, same player

Forward him some greetings from me, when you meet him - and ask him, whether he can remember the time at Musikmesse in 1998 and the DINO! IIRC he always came along with an old Strat or a Strat type guitar.

Just thinking a bit loud..... if your next Ampfest will be later than the point, when my next project is finished (on the paper/hard disk already is) - the Jon Schaffer Signature Head, what's about in March or April 2010 - then maybe I definitely will be coming over the pond. Will be bringing along the J.S. Sig. Head and also my new viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58266

You're bringing along the DINO once again and the British Purist, of course your amps and - if already finished - your Natas...
... but then the next amp fest has to be planned for two days

And I think then I have to grab Ralph - to go to drink a beer with him in any bar around the next corner ;)

Larry

Two day ampfest with all Larrys and Fortins?

Fucking IN

Yeah what up with the old man stuff anyways

Im in for that as well!

100000000000% I'll bring my Deans and Washburns so all you round guitar guys can laugh at the bearded dude with the pointy guitars hahahaha at least there will be some real guitars to play then hahahaha

I'd have been a very, very young dad at your birth - but medically possible :)

Check the attached photo and guess my age! If you don't already know?
On the right is Olaf, in the middle is Piero (the gitarrero), the remaining guy is me.
The pic was shot on my birthday in March 2008 at Musikmesse Frankfurt.

Stuff of the old, but bullet proofed men

Well guys, I go to sleep now - it's already 5:30 am here in good old Germany
It's been a hard day yesterday - and it will be a hard and solder smokey one tomorrow ;)
