My attention was first brought towards Diezel when I saw a local (Algarve, Portugal) fellow guitar player use a VH4 while playing with two of my current band mates. Then I saw Tool live and I was absolutely impressed with Adam's tone - probably the best tone I have ever heard in a live concert.
Some time later an old acquaintance of mine who
has a small music store in the centre of Portugal offered himself to ship a Einstein 50 head to my place at no cost for a trial. I hesitated because I couldn't afford such an expensive amp at the time but I finally agreed.
When my Einstein got here, I plugged my
Ibanez UV7BK (with a JB in the bridge position) in and the Einstein into a Line 6 2x12" cab and was overwhelmed with the tone. My smile didn't last long though... I couldn't afford this work of art. Fortunately, my mom lent me the money... and now I'm a very, very happy musician.
The Diezel Einstein completely changed by approach towards guitar playing. I don't use my Ibanez anymore. I'm using Mayones guitars. I quit using rack FX units replacing them with a few high end stomp boxes. I changed my direction towards a more pure and dynamic sound, less gain, a lot more mids, wider strings, more right
hand dynamics... right now I'm searching for the ultimate 2x12" cab.
