How many of you are Strat guys?

I dig that silverburst one - mod shop? Or did they do a run of silverburst at one point?

Fitting time for this topic - I took in an '09 AVRI '62 on trade with a buddy, and have been digging the shit out of playing it. Though I'm running the single coil into an EP booster before it hits the rest of my rig.
That's actually a Fender American Professional Series limited run Silverburst...Great guitar, but I have to say the MIM Fender Blacktop HH sitting next to it is almost as good, fantastic guitar at any price.

I have both a strat with HSS and SSS because sometimes I like pickups hot, sometimes I want a less hissing sound.

I've been kind of gassin on the new Ultra II HSS, but I haven't seen one yet in my local GC. I would also agree with people who say to play a bunch if you can. It sounds cliche, but I'm a believer now. I went with a friend to help him pick out a guitar, and we spent a couple hours trying stuff. We played a bunch of USA/MIM strats, LPs, Epis, etc.., and there was one MIM player strat that really stood out from the crowd. It was one of the loudest acoustically, and sounded fire through an amp. He ended up getting an LP, which to be fair sounded good, but it was MUCH more $ and didn't really stand out. I had to go back the next day to grab it after thinking about it all night. I had no intention of getting a guitar, much less a SSS strat, but it sounds ridiculous.

Some really say there's some hidden gems in the MIM's. I had a Vintera 70's Tele, and I had no complaints about it. Quality was great, fit & finish spot-on.

Those new Ultras are SICK. Even Ola demo'd one.. This one is REALLY sick..

That charvel is right up my alley! Japan or US? Could be a early mexican too i guess with no hex truss rod adjustment?

I just want to say for the record that I am not a strat guy, but I always look at and play strats. I don't own one right now (stunned actually), but know I will definitely own one again in the future. You just can't fucking stay away.

My first guitar was some godawful sunburst strat from the 90s. I hated it cause it sounded like shit when I tried to play Lagwagon's Violins on it and palm muting sucked. And the volume knob's placement sucks. And the middle position is quiet and is always in the way. And wtf are two tone knobs even for? Fuck I hate that guitar, but will definitely buy it again.

Thanks! both are the MIJ. I got a huge boner when they were introduced, and had to collect them all like Pokemon. Had the Hot Rod and primer as well, but these 2 sounded and played the best, so they stuck around.

What pickups did you put in or did you just put covers on the dimarzios?

That's what I'm looking at in the "Dark Knight" color. I'm thinking go all in on USA or Japan. I don't wanna fool with MIM really. I already have a TB-5 on standby for the bridge.

I am a strat guy for sure lol. I have and have had some les pauls which i love. My left hand loves strats and les pauls but my right hand is more comfortable on strats than LP's. It's probably due to the fact that i took 2 years of guitar lessons on a floyd rose strat when i was 14.
I think my left also prefers unfinished necks than finished necks but not really a factor. I still love the look of les pauls and sound probably more.

A few of my Fenders. If I was to get another, it would be a new Ultra II.

Man, that white reverse headstock up on the top left is pure sex. That's more what I want. I'm going for a Hank Sherman vibe, and I'm seeing the reverse headstock models have that more aggressive look for some reason. Was wondering about a Hendrix MIM as a mod platform. Like the vibe, and throw some aggressive pickups in it.

It started life as a MIM Hendrix Strat. It's got a Tusq Nut, Hipshot Locking Tuners. Callaham Bridge, Wilkinson Locking Saddles and the EMG DG20 pickguard.
