How many of you are Strat guys?

I suggest building a superstrat with warmoth or musikraft body and neck. Split coil will give you versatility.

I am a Les Paul guy but love my Fender Professional II Strat. It is the only Strat I've ever had that i want to keep and didn't feel a need to upgrade the humbucker pickup. Sounds and feels killer and a great guitar!

That's what I'm looking at in the "Dark Knight" color. I'm thinking go all in on USA or Japan. I don't wanna fool with MIM really. I already have a TB-5 on standby for the bridge.

I'm a huge Strat fan. My favorite neck pickup sound is the '50's ones. For anything under $1500 or so my favorites have been some of the vintage Japanese ones and VTT's. I don't think you can beat those 2 for that price range. I haven't tried any non-Custom Shop Fender's I've liked as much

The old MiJ ones with Dragster bridge HB's are great for pretty much anything. Like @alund , mine will only go from my cold, dead hands. I'm ready to sink twice what I paid into it to keep it out of retirement! I've got an '86 st-314 boxer, it's got the 24.75" scale, 12" radius and hss getup. The first strat to make me a believer.

I got an American Pro II HSS, used locally for $1k.

At that price, I like it pretty well. The satin neck & gloss headstock is a nice touch, those solid burst finishes look great in person, the neck profile feels nice, quality is pretty solid all around. The single coils are pretty good, I don't love them as much as the Fralin vintage hots in my Nash, but they cover a more modern Strat tone very nicely.

My only complaint is that I don't care for the bridge humbucker at all, it's not terrible, just sort of bland. In order to swap it out, you have to get a new pick guard or drill out the stock one. Fender has this stupid 3 hole mount for the stock one. I'll probably swap out that pickup in mine, I wanted to give it a few months to see if I liked it enough to justify sinking more money into it.

That was the first color I was going to get and then ended up with Miami Blue. Great guitar!

Oh shit, that sucks! WTF? I can see it now that you brought it up..

Mostly a high gain player but I always liked the 90s Fender Strat Plus, Plus Deluxe and Ultra guitars. Swimming pool route is really versatile for pickup changes. Blue Pearl Dust is similar in color to what you showed as well but there's lots of other great colors from that era. Only owned two of them but they were both excellent players. Had this Ultra for about 15 years and I'll probably have it for life.

Yep, even though you can get a new p/g for $30, it's still really annoying that something as vanilla as a USA Fender Strat would have such a useless feature.

Besides my many super strats I do have 2 fender selects circa 2012'.Although they have figured tops, they're very basic otherwise.Fender humbucker sounds pretty good on the one.No need to change it out.I believe the selects are discontinued tho.

I have a 1994 American Standard Strat. The pickups and trems from that era all seem to be solid. I've kept it pretty much stock since it covers what I think of as the signature strat sound. I also have a Carvin bolt in an HSS config, and it's great as well. I'm not really a superstrat guy beyond maybe putting a humbucker in the bridge position. If I wanted something with a double locking trem, I'd probably get something pointy or an Ibanez.

I have a few HSS Strats that sound, feel and play absolutely glorious. Straight honest, a few of my MIM Strats play/feel better than my PRS Standards.

Wouldn't say I'm necessarily a "strat guy"...But I own two, one American and a MIM. Both have moderate to high output humbuckers. Really enjoy them at certain times.

I've been a Strat guy for a long time, my favorites are my Partscasters. It's just been hard for me to find an off the shelf Strat with all my preferences like frets. radius's, neck profile, color, quality parts and pickups.

I dig that silverburst one - mod shop? Or did they do a run of silverburst at one point?

Fitting time for this topic - I took in an '09 AVRI '62 on trade with a buddy, and have been digging the shit out of playing it. Though I'm running the single coil into an EP booster before it hits the rest of my rig.
