I figured, "The V30 is just the cool speaker to hate."

I've been reading reviews on the Warehouse V30s. Everyone says these have a little less bass than the Celestion V30s. For another alternative to the traditional V30s, try the Hellatone 60Ls. They have more bass than V30s. The mids/highs are more focussed too.

They are tried in the same cabs?

Yes. At one point I had two V30s + two 60Ls in a Bogner cab. I liked them both in the cab, but with a mic the 60Ls sounded way better recorded.

I used to love them. Right now I'm going through a "what was I thinking" phase.

I can't speak for you, but the internets have given me the impression that tons of people just hear them with an amp, find the sound acceptable, decide that it must be because they're the "industry standard," then go around saying they sound good. Yet they didn't actually bother really comparing them to anything else. Pretty much every amp I ever liked worked best with a different speaker. I don't get why people do that.

Thats exactly what my V30's sounded like, no highs or lows, just a dull flat midrange tone. He obviously likes that sound and you do as well, which is cool. It doesnt work for me.

They stick like a mofo to a fridge though!

Hey, any update when the you know whats are coming in ? ;)

BTW I finally had the PA-2 installed today after all this time. The luthier I go to has another job for most of the year, therefore its cut down on his guitar business dramatically.

They should be here sometime this week.

How do you like the PA-2? Too soon to tell probably right?

Ok thats cool :)

I like the PA-2 quite a bit, so far :D
It sounds a tad more natural than my TC booster, so thats a good thing. It is somewhat noisy, and I knew that going in, but its nothing my ISP decimator pedal can't handle.
It really beefed up the bridge PU and makes single notes on the neck PU absolutely scream ! I've got it set at 50 % but I may back it off a bit more.
