What I've learned from this thread is, a boosted 800 still rules,
and I'd totally rock a mid 70s Chevelle Wagon.
 
His method of gain on 10, then boost is just like a friend of mine. He used to (died last year) go gain 10, BASS 10, treble 6-7, mids 3-4, presence 4-6 on every amp. EVERY AMP. And then boost it with a Tube Screamer, also with the gain on 10.

Made pretty much everything sound like shit. I say that with love. Really nice guy, and as good a "shredder" as I've ever known, but dude was a bit too high on himself from a gear perspective because he had played pretty much everything of note up until say 2010. But he didn't really make any of them exhibit good tone.

This amp's sound is just so generic to me that it sounds like every bland, nondescript high-gain backing track you might hear on a Horsepower TV show where someone shows you how to install an exhaust on a 1980s V6 Mustang.
