I had a local'ish guy message me on FB about my Von K Tele I'm selling and asked several questions about it and was like alright, I'm free Wednesday, I can meet up with you then. Then today it starts to devolve into hey, is there any way you'd take $100 less? Once I told him no, I was pretty firm, he came back with well can you meet me in x-town so I can look at it? I want to check it out first because it's not a well known brand and if I go to sell it, I may not be able to. I told him he didn't sound very convinced he wanted the guitar, so I wasn't going to drive an hour and a half round trip for him to just look at it and see what he thought, because if he didn't buy it, I'm out all that gas money and time. Then he replies with well, I'm interested, but I don't want to drive 2 hours round trip to look at a guitar that I'm not sure about. If it were a Nash or something I'd definitely do it, but a brand I'm not familiar with, I want to get my hands on it first.

I'm sorry, where is it my problem your town is an hour from me? Guitar Center isn't going to bring that new Ibanez you've been looking at to your house or meet you halfway so you can see how the frets feel and the body weight and then you decide whether you want it or not. The audacity of lazy fucks these days and their entitled attitudes. He's EXACTLY the kind of dude who'd buy a guitar from you or me off Reverb, try it out for a week and just not really like the way the pickups sound with his amp, and return it. Fuck the general public. This is why I have a million guitars and amps I'll never ever use; because I hate dealing with buyers who think personal commerce works like WalMart.

It's crazy isn't it though..........:dunno::confused: This is what the Walmart and the most recent Paypal generation has brought us with their 90 day guaranteed refund window if you are willing to lie after playing/trying out the item for 90 days......

I guess he is not that interested in the guitar then if he isn't willing to drive an hour to check it out, foook him.....I wouldn't meet up with him at all if I were you at this point, he had his chance.

I've had some interested CL parties bitch about an hour drive and then I say I drive up your way all the time to buy stuff. If you aren't willing to drive check it out I'm not Guitar Center. I have known people who lived in Chicago that didn't have a driver's license but again... that's not my fault.

I don't understand how some people expect me to drive an hour and a half to meet them somewhere. Screw that -- that's why shipping is for. If you want to come to my residence and check it out, fine. But I'm not going to drive 1.5 hours south and then another 1.5 hours home. The nice thing to remember is that, all you have to say is no.

Compromise and meet halfway perhaps. He covers your gas mileage. He balks tell him to fuck off...shouldn't be that difficult. This is an fine example of why I love dogs and hate people now.
He wanted me to meet closer to his end so he wouldn't have to drive as far. You tell someone like that you have to Venmo me $100 non refundable to cover my time or gas and I'll take that out of the price to cover in case you don't like it, they still aren't going to do it. If he really wanted the guitar, he would've driven an hour to buy it.

I was selling a amp on craigs list years ago and a guy wanted to bring a case of beer to try it out! :ROFLMAO: Maybe when I was younger,
I said no (y)
Hell, no before that I was selling a motorcycle, and the dude was arguing I did not have a Yamaha YZ250 which is what I had.
I picked up a wrench to cold cock that mother in the head and told him so. He did all this in front of his wife:ROFLMAO:

Did I mention that I hate selling things?

This is almost every buyer I have dealt with. Because I'm in between Portland and Seattle, most all want a discount because of the drive from usually one of those locations. Don't personally like to deal with selling things so I price them to move in the first place and people still want more. "Take the bus if fuel costs are a concern" is usually a good closer to end the conversation. Even when I tell people that I'm firm more often than not they want more off and have even had more than once someone drive a hundred or so miles and "didn't bring that much cash" despite the firm, despite reiterating it. And then they get upset over it and apparently I'm the one who wasted their time and money somehow. Yeesh. So, now I just hoard. :ROFLMAO:

For craigslist stuff I just started putting in my cell number and said text or call only in the ad, warning that I rarely check emails. All the people who can't read my ad send emails that I'll see a week or two later, lol. Surprise, those are the guys offering trades when I said no trades or just general tire kicking and lowballing. I have had exceedingly good luck with buyers and sellers both, which kinda offsets my very negative ebay experiences.

Depends on your perspective.

Y'all ever hunt squatch over there? I heard the pacific northwest is pretty much bigfoot central.

Supposedly they're in the Olympic National Forest.
We're in Capitol Forest. So we do get lots of wildlife including black bears and cougars once in a while.
